I wouldn't go this far, but they did seem a little mellow with their kid out missing in 25 degree weather......

| My comment about the parents was immediately deleted. Their interview was subdued and strange. |
That’s not her mom from interview. |
|
I hope she's found soon!
My news feed is flooded with "It takes 2 seconds to share!" with missing kids. I think all have been runaways so people (myself included) are starting to be desensitized to the ads. The perception that runaways are not in danger (as in kidnapped) so that reduces the urgency from the public to help. |
Perhaps you forgot to add the words "I thought...." or "my opinion was..." For instance, while the moderator could take issue with "Their interview was subdued and strange," "Their interview was subdued and strange, in my personal opinion" should pass muster anywhere. |

I basically told my kid today....dont ever "run away" because unless someone sees you getting abducted, the larger world is sadly just not going to do much.
And we'll be quite worried., and you'll be in danger. { "grave danger?" "is there any other kind?" } |
Probably because a 13-year-old is missing, and so you...comment about your opinion about the way the parents seemed on TV. |
Thought the same thing. Plus a helicopter search? Our ES principal sent out an email past 8pm last night asking people to come search for this girl. Really? There was a girl missing in Aspen Hill last week, and that same principal didn't send out an email for that, despite the fact that she went missing just a few blocks away from the ES. |
PP To be clear, I hope she is found safe and sound. Just commenting that the PP was not the only person who thought things were weird. |
| People in the community are gathering again today at Carmen's Italian Ice in Rockville to help with the search. |
I think that's just the Rockville community for you. Not weird - just very concerned and trying to be helpful. They want to help. |
Am I out of line for thinking that "the community" meeting at "an ice cream shop" is not necessarily the most professional, and organized, way to locate a missing person? What about police bloodhounds? When are they being deployed, put on her scent from some clothing at her home? My opinion here -- the cops know a lot more than they want us to know. I do not have a good feeling about this. |
The "community" just wants to help. Yes - it probably isn't the most professional and organized way but they feel like they have to do something. This is what a village rallying around a missing kid looks like. That "ice cream shop"? A big community place. The owner is very involved in the community. His son is in the same grade as the missing girl and I believe they went to elementary school together. |
I was at Carmen’s last night with lots of other concerned members of our community. Rockville police officers also were there. The community volunteers were supplementing the work of the police by searching the area near where the girl lives and beyond. They are meeting again today at Carmen’s to distribute flyers and raise awareness in the area. |
The missing Aspen Hill girl also lives in Rockville. Yet, no community search, no helicopters. Why the different response? |
