Even military forces can be brought up on charges. A U.S. Marine accidentally shot another marine in Barracks Row. Guess what? Charged. https://wtop.com/dc/2019/08/dc-barracks-marine-hit-with-murder-charge-in-new-years-shooting-death-of-lance-corporal/ |
No idea about this matter, but in general, only with reasonable force in the circumstances. Civil suit options still out there. |
Yes, I could've written something longer and more nuanced. Basically, if someone reasonably fears for their life and defends themselves, and the other person dies, then it is justifiable homicide. That's what MPD is saying happened here. |
Wow - sketchy as f*ck. Hope this information gets out there in someway. Maybe the family will file a civil suit? Or perhaps they've already been paid off? |
I'm guessing a payoff. It's been way too quiet. The man died ACROSS THE STREET from his condo building. It'd be way too easy to hold a press conference on the steps otherwise. |
Something similar happened to a friend of mine in another state, except he was severely injured but not killed. A group of white frat guys attacked him (victim was also white) because he was taking pictures of them illegally drinking outside of their frat house. When the case came to trial, they were all declared innocent.
My friend won a large settlement of money in the civil suit however. Paid for his medical treatment and limited ability to work afterwards. You apparently can't have rich white fratty drunk guys hurt / kill someone AND end up with a criminal record that will hurt their promising career. |
Someone in town knows who these guys are? Come on DC sleuths - spill the beans. |
Lol. Pick a fight with one of the instructors of District Combatives and this is what happens. |
Not funny imbecile. |
True, but a valuable lesson learned. Don't start confrontations with random individuals, you never know who they might be. |
FWIW: Don't know the details but a guy was killed in an apartment down the street from me. He was a poor African American man. The person who most likely killed him wasn't identified. In my neighborhood, the killer could have been poor and black or white and middle class. I never knew. At a neighborhood meeting, I asked about what happened and the police representative said that it was most likely a self defense situation.
Of course, I don't know any of the details but obviously the police made a decision to to not release the name of the suspect, presumably because they thought he/she did it in self defense. |
