The comment by his brother about not being sure if they want to know what happened is odd, almost as if they think there’s a possibility he brought this on himself in some way (e.g., had a drinking problem and got belligerent/aggressive when he was drunk) and they don’t want that to be his legacy. |
You mean the CaringBridge update? I thought that was in reference to them not wanting to know gruesome details in the aftermath before the family was ready. I remember when there was the frenzy around Rich and suddenly the whole world knew exactly how he died (facedown with gunshots like he tried to get away) and the mansion murders (tortured the kid). All of these people have surviving family and in the case of the Mansion murders/Senate staffer - young people in their lives who really don't need to know everything at this moment. |
What I read sounded like possibly he fell down after an altercation and that’s what caused the head injury. |
He has a 14 year old son. Poor kid. |
That would be awful. I wouldn’t want my child to know that. |
where is the description of the attackers? |
This is poised to become a much bigger story.
Apparently the family is telling friends/family to not talk to anyone unless they identify themselves as MPD. They are concerned that private investigators for the assailants will be reaching out and trying to dig up dirt on the victim. The MPD already has identified the suspects. |
This is from the local police listserv:
|
Oh wow. Private investigators? Meaning he got into a fight with people of means. Interesting, interesting. The restaurant/bar this was at btw is the Scarlet Oak restaurant. Not cheap but standard pricing for D.C. ![]() ![]() |
It's a nice place. I'm surprised we haven't heard from employees yet. r/washingtondc has no threads on this crime, which is bizarre. I'm guessing the Reddit moderators are deleting them because this would be a prime Reddit discussion. |
“Some additional information: Suspect lookout is for a white male, 20-26 years old, dressed in a cream colored jacket or sweater." AH HA! Let me guess one reason why this story wasn't picked up by the Washington Post until the family went directly to them and Reddit threads are being deleted -- its some lobbyist/Congress staffer's son. Oh well, your child just killed the wrong person. |
Why would there be a Gofundme? I would assume a well-paid Senate staffer would have life insurance. |
Anymore, there is always a gofundme, started by someone who thinks it is a nice thing to do. I am about to add a NO gofundme clause to my DNR. . . |
Uh, "well paid" and Senate are not usually used in the same sentence. This guy is a civil servant working in the basement copy machine and document office. You really think he was well paid? |
There was a GoFundMe after that White House staffer got run over as well. The wife got $430K. https://www.gofundme.com/jakebrewer https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/dc/gofundme-goal-reached-for-wh-staffer-killed-in-accident/203083215 Life Insurance will pay off the mortgage, but every day expenses and a college fund (or help the older children with a good start in life) no. |
