So so much.

Mostly, I think the school system is just too big. And that makes it so hard to run it efficiently.

Lack of leadership. Lack of accountability.

Exactly which elected politician can can implement complete accountability in MCPS?

This is it exactly.

MCPS is just too big. This is what happens when a system/corporation gets too large.

In a smaller school district, the community would demand action and the Damascus Principal would have been gone after that WaPo article.

Have to disagree. The only rational conclusion is after weekly posts of racist debacles and other unseamly scandals at Churchill it's safe to conclude that school is a mess. They need to rework the boundary completely and start over.

Even if the school were a mess, how did you reach the "rational conclusion" that "They need to rework the boundary completely and start over"?

They used the same rationale the PP applied to conclude the county is too big.

Do you actually have kids?

What would be 'sad' is to bury your head in the sand. It literally takes 5 seconds to do a search. You can do it while you wait in the carpool lane. Or, while you wait for your coffee maker to brew.

It would be 'sad' if parents didn't do some research.

MCPS has proven that it's not in business to protect kids.

A good way to protect kids by using a cell phone (or, a computer even?) to do search when driving (or, more accurately "operating your vehicle")?

Wow. You must be so smart.

Except for when you’re not.

I get to the carpool at least 10 minutes early and have 5 minutes to sit in the car. With the car turned off. So, no worries. I’m not driving. Thanks for your concern.

Kind of like the rationale the County used to rework boundaries, I guess.

Some kids aren’t performing well at one school. Let’s bus then to a different school to eee if they do better there.

Oh, and this school has lots of kids doing well! Let’s move them to a lower performing school to see if the school does better.

Yes, Churchill has lots of problems: drugs on campus, swastikas being drawn on desks, N word passes (as well as the use of the N word), and now the teacher issue. The big question is what is the plan to prevent problems and improve the school climate?

School administrators have to admit where there are problems and follow through with their prommises in order to fix them. Change after decades of Dr. Benz is what parents wanted. Thus far very little has been done to address serious problems at Churchill. Communication is nothing but spin and fluff.

For those who think silence means everything is ok at Churchill, think again and check in with your kids. If MCPS can cover up a serious problem with silence and time, I am sure that a number of parents will continue to be deceived by their naivety.

Another possible answer would be that you do it even when the car is moving - just someone else is driving - doing carpool means there is another person.

10 min is insufficient time to actually search properly. Tell you spouse that you need to quit your job, stop doing housework, and devote yourself full-time to double checking every adult you know against a website. If he complains, he must be trying to hide something himself. You can keep going to the gym though. It takes stamina to type in the names of all the thousands of people who might encounter your child.

Any letter or email from the Churchill principal today?

If this is under investigation by the police, they may be forbidden from saying anything until the police file a public report. There is some sort of agreement between MCPS and MCPD about communications while things are investigated. Rumor I heard was that teacher and student were making out in hallway before school. If so, that is likely to be on camera. Hopefully the police will file charges soon and we will know what actually happened.

LOL! Kind of funny if it's true. Why not close the door and stay in the classroom.

Wow. PP must have an axe to grind to keep discouraging parents to do a public judiciary case search. Makes me wonder if PP has something to hide. The gender stereotyping in the post also is a bit odd. I hope this person is not an employee at Churchill or MCPS.

Nothing about this situation is funny. A child is at the center of this rumor. Please take a second to think of what the girl at the heart of the allegations is going through.

I’m the PP and I apologize. I’m sorry. I agree with you. I’ve posted here often expressing my frustration with how MCPS doesn’t do enough to keep kids safe from sexual predators.

I think as a parent, I’m so fed up and frustrated with MCPS! Hopefully this was just ‘making out’ in the hall and nothing worse.
