. It just looks like a hodgepodge of random buildings. Yuck.

So erudite. You're missing the point. There's nothing "Industrial" there as OP claims

Industrial? I'm pretty sure you were at the wrong campus. GMU is surrounded by downtown Fairfax, which is cute and getting some decent restaurants, bars, etc. in it (finally), parks, residential neighborhoods, and malls that cater to college kids. It's walkable and they've been doing a lot to try to upgrade its "curb appeal." So, try again.

You think Fairfax, VA is CUTE!?! Who hurt you?

You're clearly a troll, but I'll bite. Obviously, you've never walked or driven through historic Fairfax, close to where GMU is located. It is, indeed, a cute little town.

How would OP like it if I posted a picture of his/her house stating it is the ugliest house ever. Why would someone ever post such an insulting comment??

I will honestly never understand the GMU haters here on DCUM. They have such a visceral disdain for the school - why? If they prefer others, then why spend the time to put down one particular school? It reflects so badly on them. Such insecure people.

Old town Fairfax, you idiot. Main Street. Where GMU students go to eat. You clearly have never been on campus

Why is it then that restaurants can’t survive in that area? They come and go all the time. Goodness, even the Panera 1.5-2 miles from campus shut down. It was like a ghost town. We live in Fairfax City and see very few students at the local restaurants.

What, exactly, is your problem? Such a weird thing to troll about, yet here you are. Looking idiotic.

+1. Haters got to hate. FWIW, there is a nice historic part of Fairfax and GMU even runs a shuttle bus to it (and well beyond) for those students who want to eat there.

OP - GMU has four campuses. Which one were you at? There sure isn't any industrial/multiple power plants here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ToCWoG678A

The Manasses campus is awful.

I graduated from an "ugly campus" college (that SUNY school on Long Island), which was more than compensated for by the quality science education I received.

In parts, it is very nice indeed. Plus, it’s an Ivy.

I hear Mason has an ugly campus. Any thoughts?

Cool story.

Anonymous wrote:GMU reminds me of W&M’s “new” campus. Old campus is beautiful but many people like me spent the vast majority of their time in 1960s-era brick buildings, just like GMUs. It didn’t diminish the quality of my education in the slightest. I think GMU is very pretty and its relative newness goes in the pro column for our DC.

William and Mary still has work to do with its new campus, but there have been significant renovations and improvements. Morton Hall, however....

I posted about SUNY Binghamton earlier. Great school, but fugly campus.

NVCC’s Alexandria campus easily has to be one of the country’s 10 most beautiful spots. George Mason in Fairfax City can’t compare.
