I don’t understand why GMU fans feel like they need to defend how the campus looks. It’s a perfectly fine school.
It’s campus is objectively ugly. Learning in an ugly building doesn’t reflect poorly on your kids. I don’t get the nuttiness. |
| We visited and I didn't think it was ugly. I was just missing much of a notion of a quad. |
| No serious person thinks they would have built the Ffx campus that way now. Hard pass. |
Claremont - fantastic town? Are you kidding? Town is tiny and uninteresting. Only saving grace is that the Claremont colleges are an hour from LA. I don’t love the Harvey Mudd architecture although I wouldn’t call it hideous. Pomona and Scripps are really pretty |
Love Claremont. It’s adorable. |
I got in there without visiting and ended up choosing another school after I saw the campus. I hated high school, and the buildings looked too much like my high school. |
But so freaking boring for college age students. |
But I don't think it is ugly. There are many brand new buildings there that are attractive and the hilliness of the campus with many mature trees surrounding it gives a nice feel. And the mix of architecture with some cohesive strands look good. They do an amazing job with the landscape including sustainability--they are leaders in the area on that. I don't have a kid there --so no need to puff up my view of the place-- but I semi-regularly attend things there related to my field. |
| All colleges are attractive on some level. But on that scale, in my opinion, GMU is near the bottom. Towson is another. |
I'm the PP who thought it not ugly. Fine with your opinion--matters of taste and all-- but I was responding to a PP who said it is objectively ugly. As someone with a design background and who has been at many colleges, I just don't think it's objectively true. |
| Lots of ugly campuses OP. Only the privileged or heavily student loaned get to go somewhere that looks lovely |
Then you’re arguing with the wrong person. I wasn’t responding to you. |
Nah. But love your bitterness! |
+1 |
It’s a great town to live in and, over a few blocks, has better restaurants than one will find in all of nova. Maybe a tad dull to be in during college. But those looking for big state u don’t choose the Claremont Colleges. |
