| "Little" as noun. |
|
Totally just called my three week old a piggy because she snorts hilariously when she latches. My friends should all dump me now.
Oh, and I’m from Eastern Europe and call my own father papa... my American-born husband is Daddy to the kids though. In all seriousness, only two things will turn me off another mom:selling for an MLM and being an anti vaxxer. No thanks to both. |

MLM = multilevel marketing racket
"boymom" = mother with (only) sons; see three doctoral dissertations' worth of drama here: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/751167.page |

Grit
“Grit predicts success” “We can build grit in your child” “We need to cultivate grit” |
| I think papa is sweet. |
+1. I don’t mind Papa at all. Maybe because my brother and his husband used Daddy and Papa to distinguish them to their kids two decades ago. Now having my niece and nephew call my brother “Pops” or Papa seems very sweet to me. |

I don't really care about any of these things and none of them would stop me being friends with anyone. I call breasts boobs. I find the term "nursing" to be really odd and bizarrely euphemistic, but perhaps because I'm not American.
I haven't heard the "piggy" thing but whatever. I am a bit shocked when I hear parents call their little kids A*holes but it wouldn't prevent me being friends with them (I actually only know one mom who says this, about her 5 yo who can be a bit of a bully, and it is weird). |
It bothered me to until my son started calling his baby sister "sissy" and referred to himself as "big brother" all on his own. Then I found it cute and will sometimes find myself referring to her as Sissy to him. No harm no foul. |
| i run away from incessant narrating in a loud attention seeking voice that could cut glass. |
| Weird. I am pregnant and refer to the unborn child as piglet as a fond term after Winnie the Pooh and because in 2019 it will be the year of the pig. If anyone don’t want to be my friend so be it. |
You got it! |
Yes! Make them go to bed earlier &/or don’t let them manipulate you into giving up their nap too soon (or at least enforce quiet time)! |
|
And if they don’t get enough sleep/refuse to nap or go to bed, don’t take them out for as long the next day or in the afternoon/evening (& let them know why!) |
I didn't realize this was a thing. We call DD "little" as a noun sometimes because of a "littles" book we liked from the dolly parton imagination library. She is little and I think it's sweet. I've never heard someone call their baby a pig. I'm with the PP - MLM is awful and if you're anti-vaccine - we are done. Other than that, I'm not going to judge you. But I think most moms have too much going on to care whether someone who overhears their conversation wants to be friends. |
