Words that turn me off another mother

Anonymous
I don’t blame people for using this word, but I can stand the constant use of the word “thriving.” It always seems obnoxious and defensive to me. It also makes me think of like...an invasive plant species.

+1

Also, I don't judge the nicknames that people give their kids. A mother calling her baby a "little piggy" is almost certainly doing so out of affection, and because she is happy that her baby is eating well and gaining weight.

Perhaps you are very human-centric and don't see beauty in other species.

Your loss, OP.

You cannot possibly be so dense as to call your baby a pig and think that is a compliment!!!

You cannot possibly be so dense as to think that people who call their babies "little piggies" are doing so to insult them. Normal people WANT their baby to eat well and put on weight. Chubby babies are seen as healthy, well-fed, etc. I would assume that a parent using that nickname was pleased that their baby was big.

Actually, I can guarantee you that these are the popular moms with more friends than they need.

Nope!

Yes. And you know it. They were the funny, popular girls in high school and they are the cool irreverent mothers now.

I actually thought those girls we’re pretty dense and self loathing. They however believe themselves to be quite witty, and are largely alcoholics.

Sure, Sweetie, if that makes you feel better about yourself...

Personified. That’s not popularity or irreverence, it’s pure mean girl. Good luck with that beyond your wine friends.

Or maybe people just aren't attaching as much importance to this stuff as the weird posters on this thread are. God forbid someone makes an innocuous comment.

I call my DS a piggy all the time. I think pigs are cute, and so is he. I'm not giving him a complex, I just think he's a cute chubby round baby.

The only words that turn me off are "come to my MLM party!"

Anyway not anyways. And you just judged OP.

DP I don't see this as judgement. The pp is saying the op probably wouldn't like her because she does the things that annoy the op.

My pet peeve (it would not turn me off to a friendship, but it bugs) is the word "mamas or mommas" as in "hey mammas, what do you do when your kid does X". I see it all the time.

So you don’t like French speakers?

Actually, I don’t like the French either, but that’s another issue. If you are actually French, then it’s culturally normal to use the word PApa for your father. If you are American, then it’s trying too hard...

Ouch! DH insisted that he be “Papa” instead of Dad/Daddy. I told him it was milenial yuppie but he insisted.

What if you are a gay dad? Is that acceptable? Btw, my kids' grandfather was Papa!
