I'm 49, here are my favorite black work pants:

https://neimanmarcus.scene7.com/is/image/NeimanMarcus/NMTB2QW_01_m?&wid=456&height=570

They are Milly. Fit beautifully. They look classic and expensive.

There you go. Talbots sells nothing that falls like these pants.

They are also $400 which is out of range for most people.

It's nice how you only posted the picture and not the actual listing.

You are right, they are almost $400, but if you judge them by how many times you will wear them, then it's worth it. I've had these pants for 3 years already. They still look new. Because they fit so well and I've always looked good in wide legged pants, I'll wear them for at least 7 more years.

If I buy $400 pants, then I have to buy a $400 blazer, and then $100-200 tops. That's $1000 on ONE OUTFIT. Most people can't do that, regardless of how long you think the clothes will last (not even thinking of whether they'll be in style or not)

Just flood pants. Is that ok by you?

Huh? I buy Talbots in tall lengths with a 36" inseam. And they have a long hem. Unless you are 6'4" that should work.

Same here. I was a Talbots proponent on the other thread. And I only buy my work pants there because I’m 5’11” and their 36” works much better than most places 34”

I wear more casual wear and things like these chinos have a 28” inseam at the most

Am I missing something ? Offering some pants in my size and others not just makes me mad.

Those pants are meant to be cropped.

These chinos come in inseams of up to 33.5 inches.

Those are stretch pants, they’re not chinos. They’re only 80% cotton when a chino really should be at least 99% cotton.
Sorry but between that fabric and those drab colors those are senior citizen pants that you might order via the back page of Parade magazine.

Don't you think that 80% cotton with stretch is more flattering than 99% cotton? I don't have a dog in the Tablot's fight, but genuinely curious.

No - chinos are supposed to be a cotton pant. You can’t make them into stretchy close fitting tights and call them chinos - it’s weird. That much stretch in pants makes it feel like you are wearing a bathing suit or something. That’s not a chino it’s a jegging.

NP here - I think those Talbots pants are hideous, but I also don't think you don't know what you're talking about. Most pants nowadays have a little bit of stretch in them - they don't wrinkle, they move with you, the pockets don't bulge out - stretch is GOOD. If a pant like that fits you like a legging, it's because you're wearing the wrong size, not because the pants are "jeggings", which those absolutely are not.

If you're wearing 99% cotton, you look like a construction worker.

That's ridiculous. If you have one expensive item, you can mix it with cheaper items. I also shop at Zara and Target. Those pants make then entire outfit look expensive. I don't own a single top that costs $100, let alone $200. I buy expensive pants and shoes. About 2x a year, Carlisle, the VERY expensive trunk line, has a sale at their Clarksburg outlet. Everything is $50. You have to know how to shop to look great.

You are silly - trying to squeeze yourself into pants that are too small for you by adding lots of stretch is not a good look. You look like a squeezed sausage.

These pants seem to be a good, polished look for many , they come in many lengths and many colors each season.

Driving to Bufu, WV 2x a year to buy insanely overpriced MLM clothes on the cheap does not strike me as “knowing how to shop.”

Milly pants PP lost me at Carlisle Collection. Oh, Milly, I was on your side until that comment. I just turned 40 so perhaps I am new to this world of middle-aged fashion, but I just looked at CC’s website. It is expensive, I’ll give you that. I also like Milly and have no qualms about paying $400 for a great pair of pants or a dark, tailored dress I can wear in lots of situations. However, Carlisle collection is all the over embellished, over embroidered, quirky prints and odd colors we’re all hating on Talbots and Chicos about. It’s just Chico’s for thin, rich women because it’s all fitted and in expensive fabrics. It still looks like old lady clothes just like Nina McLemore.

I guess y'all won't be buying the book "Chico's: A Love Story"

I don't have any printed Carlisle. I actually have quite a few leather pieces. Like anything else, you have to know what to buy.

Some items from the website that I thought were cute:
https://www.carlislecollection.com/lookbook/detail/WT18CNY015/
https://www.carlislecollection.com/lookbook/detail/WT18CNY024/
https://www.carlislecollection.com/lookbook/detail/WT18PS019/

I wear simple lines. I actually have a Nina McLemore jacket that she made for me. It's really cute, but a lot of her stuff is definitely old ladish. I just don't think her jackets are worth $800.

I can't be bothered to shop at any stores for work clothes, full stop. I quit because I hate it. I rent my clothes now.
