But someone's got to fall to #1 on the list and not get a call. I hope it's me so I don't have to make a decision.

What # are you now?

single digits but not below 5. we probably won't take it because sibling wouldn't get in this year and we don't want two drop offs. Our pull for the lottery was not at all good, so surprised we made it down this far. I guess it just comes from the way IT fills spots in August and September rather than in June and July like every other school

I guess. I am a little freaked out by how it is dropping like a stone and none of my other schools are moving much at all.

I am sick over how it would break DC's heart to leave our IB. I feel like we have to, but it is way harder than I thought it would be.

everyone I know there loves it

This was me before when we got called off the waitlist a week after my DC started at our IB (which he loved)....the first two days was very hard but we love ITS!

I don't know why you're freaked out by it. The further you get into a school year, the more reluctant people feel to move their kid. It make sense that it takes more offers to fill a spot, especially since their list didn't move too much over the summer.

FWIW I moved my kid several weeks into the year when we got an offer for a better environment and don't have any regrets.

Because my DC love, love, loves our current school. I like it a lot too, but it is a Ward 5 Title I so I know we have to leave eventually and DC is happy but not really challenged. And because I am really involved and feel bad about leaving others in the lurch.

I've been in a similar situation. How old is your kid? Would you consider staying at ITS for middle school? If so, make the move.

Yes, that would be the point of moving. But a DCI feeder is still our first choice and maybe Ludlow-Taylor to Stuart-Hobson would also be preferred over ITS. Or SWWFS, I don't know. We do have a younger child so maybe better lottery luck in the future.

I just hate to take DC out of a beloved school that has been so caring and good to her.

If you would prefer a different feeder pattern then I’d probably wait for that. Otherwise you might keep playing the lottery and move again anyways (if your kid isn’t too to start at a new immersion school)

I would put her in immersion at any age, even though people would flame me for it. I just think it is so unlikely to happen, can I really risk it?

I think you know the right move would be to ITS, and you have to look out for your kid first, just like you did when you poured your heart into your EOTP. Children are resilient, and you are a great parent giving them all the opportunities you are able.

If immersion is really your top priority (and you would continue lotterying for an immersion school whether or not you move to ITS), I would not make the move.

Thank you :-/

I relish the thought of doing no work at ITS. This PTA mom needs a break!

It is the priority, but what if it never happens? It seems to require an outstanding lottery number.

People are freaked out because they wrote off the possibility when they saw their numbers in April and when they saw their numbers move very slowly (or not at all at ITS) all summer.
