If you google the “elite ivy” link, you might notice two things. One— it is from 2006. So a bit outdated. Second, Davidson is also one of the 25 “elite Ivys” listed. Doh.

I'm not even addressing Davidson - huge waste of money. And UVA is a public ivy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_Ivy

Lol....public ivy. Seems like you’re very proud of that term. You do realize that nobody takes it seriously because it was concocted by some hack as a marketing ploy to sell his book over thirty years ago.

google before you post. "Public Ivy" is a recognized term for professional in the industry. see, e.g., https://www.collegeatlas.org/public-ivy-league.html

You’re embarrassing yourself with this public ivy nonsense. But if you insist, by all means enjoy being in that prestigious group along with Miami of Ohio, UVM and other schools with 70% admit rates.

Not the PP, but you're embarrassing yourself by confusing prestige and selectivity as the only indicators of a potentially good education. In doing so, you further the stereotype of the Ivy League being full of supercilious d-bags.

+1, but is there some reason to think the PP is an Ivy League graduate? Can't he or she just be a supercilious d-bag regardless?

Lol....where did I say that only highly selective schools can provide a good education? I'm simply calling out an imbecile who continues to put forth this farcical concept of a public ivy to promote UVA....it's a joke and a bad one at that. And yes, I'm an ivy grad who believes there actually is a positive correlation between selectivity and quality of education, but like anything, there's a bell curve and only so many people can land at one end of the distribution.

You remind me of the Yale law school graduate that worked for me back in the day. As he explained it Yale doesn't give C's because Yale doesn't admit C students. Incredibly bright young man that I had to let go. Everything was beneath him. Thought Yale did more harm then good to his work ethic.
