Dentist cancelled wisdom teeth removal appointment last minute

Maybe his internal thrombosed hemmorhoids are acting up?

Maybe he had a herpes flare up?

Maybe his prostate enlarged suddenly?

OP, take this golden opportunity to spend some quality time with your parents without being in pain and recovery! Maybe go to the museums or drive by the Trump house at night when the lights are pretty? Dinner at Ihop!

Maybe he's developed an early heart condition and needs to stop working 6 days a week. Who knows? Who needs to know?

(He and his physician.)

Anonymous wrote:OP, this sucks that they told you they'd do it and now they won't, but it is kind of unreasonable to expect that this be done on a Saturday. I understand that's a hardship for you, and I get it, but there are just certain things and certain professionals that don't do weekends. Dentistry is typically one of them.

But this guy WAS doing Saturdays.

And now he's not doing Saturdays. I had an emergency root canal on Saturday once. For a scheduled dental procedure, I wouldn't expect to have it done on Saturday.

But some of the oral surgeons/ dentists do work Saturday, therefore it is not unreasonable to think you can find one.
This guy did. That’s why she chose him.

I would find someone new.

This. That would piss me off too.

Anonymous wrote:You flew in your parents because you're having your wisdom teeth removed? You're dramatic. I had mine removed on the Friday of Labor Day weekend at 11am under general anesthesia. At 6pm, I was 2 hours away in the woods camping.

Life is going to be a whole lot longer than you'd like if you can't adapt and overcome.

NP. That’s great for you, but anesthesia has a very powerful effect on me and I slept for 20 hours out of the first 24 after my wisdom teeth were removed. Everyone doesn’t have the same experience.

NP. I had my wisdom teeth (and other teeth) out with local. I can't imagine risking general anesthesia for teeth.

Hmmm. Our dentist only uses general anesthesia if you're getting all 4 teeth out, not laughing gas. Laughing gas is reserved for when it's only a tooth or two needing removal.

OP here: I am upset because the appointment was cancelled BUT going forward apparently he won't do anymore Saturday appointments either. It doesn't sound like an emergency came up. Anyway, I am going to find another dentist.

You have no idea why he made this change the way he did. Not only do they have no obligation to tell you the reason why, it would inappropriate to give you the reasons why he had to make the change. Your sense of entitlement is mind-blowing.

Exactly. Even to the point of flying in elderly parents to take care of her (fatherless?) children.

The OP does have an inflated sense of entitlement.

It sucks, but sometimes that happens in life. OP's reaction is over the top.

It's hard to believe that doctors are humans too and just like you may take off for something that comes up in your life or family, doctors have a life and family too.

For all we know he may have just been diagnosed with a medical condition or his wife or his mother or his child. Or maybe he's having marital problems and needs to cut back to get his family back together. Or maybe his father is ill and he's going there this weekend and visiting him every weekend from now on. Who knows?

Get a new dentist, there are plenty to choose from. Make adjustments and stop all the drama.

Find a new dentist.

I have to work on those days. It's not possible.

Were you planning on going back to work on the Monday after?

Good question. If OP needed her parents to fly into help, I’m guessing she’d need a miracle cure to be back to work by Monday.

Bullshit! General anesthetic requires intubation so you are able to breathe file under such deep sedation. Your wisdom teeth are not removed while you were intubated use your freaking head

Well, then why didn't they try to explain? The only reason I was given is that "something came up".

Maybe they discovered what an entitled bitch you are and didn’t want to deal with you

I would send a note and an itemized bill detailing the costs your dentist incurred to you by cancelling surgery at the last minute: missed work, childcare, even travel fees. I'm quite serious.

Uhhhh he cancelled four days in advance. Have you ever not cancelled something that far out? What the hell?

Let’s see, I’m a dentist. The last time I cancelled work, I was LITERALLY sh*tting my pants and had shat the bed. Yup, something came up.
My codentist has had two miscarriages this year and obviously cancelled patients. She surely didn’t tell anyone that was the reason she was out.
For those of you saying leave a bad review, what the heck? Doctors are people too...that’s life. I can’t believe that many people would be so vindictive over a cancelled appt four days in advance.
OP, do you have a friend or husband that could take care of you?

Except he gave 4 days notice. That would be more than enough time for a patient to cancel without penalty.
