Dentist cancelled wisdom teeth removal appointment last minute

Anonymous
I am so angry. I requested off work and my parents are supposed to fly in from Chicago to take care of my 2 and 3-year-old so I can recover. I get a call this morning saying something has come up and they need to reschedule. I chose this doctor because he does Saturday appointments once a month. I am getting my wisdom teeth removed because I am starting orthodontic treatment soon. This is pushes everything back and it's very frustrating.

I can do it for you. Don't be mad. Sh*t happens.

Leave a bad review. This is unprofessional.

Terrible. Sorry, OP.

I just had mine done with Georgetown Oral Surgery in Friendship Heights. Great experience.

I'm sorry, that sucks. Likely not their fault, but I know how frustrating it is to go through the effort to get your ducks I a row and gear up for something big and then it doesn't happen .

I’m sorry. At our dentist, wisdom teeth surgeries are scheduled literally half a year in advance so I find that very unprofessional and frustrating.

That being said, sh*t really does happen.

Sorry -- but maybe he had the flu or something. Medical practitioners get sick sometimes too....

Maybe the dentist has the flu or has had a death in the family. It is really inconvenient for you, but sadly, bad things do happen.

What have they offered you in terms of rescheduling? Are they giving you some kind of priority to get you a new appointment?

Well, then why didn't they try to explain? The only reason I was given is that "something came up".

+1 are they doing anything to help minimize the impact on you?

This is what I was thinking. if he's sick OP would be blasting about the dentist being sick and not rescheduling.

Maybe he has Ebola or has the opportunity to meet a member of the Backstreet Boys.

Did you ask what options they had for rescheduling? Could they do it Friday or Monday?
Anonymous
Ask the office if they have someone who does backup for this dr. (For vacations, etc) Tell them you need this done for orthodontic reasons ASAP and you have arranged work and home coverage at great expense. Perhaps if they know the large story they could figure something out.

I have to work on those days. It's not possible.
