Dentist cancelled wisdom teeth removal appointment last minute

I would send a note and an itemized bill detailing the costs your dentist incurred to you by cancelling surgery at the last minute: missed work, childcare, even travel fees. I'm quite serious.

Yeah good luck with that.

This appointment was cancelled with 4 days notice. Do you know of any doctors or dentists that charge fees for appointments cancelled 4 days ahead of time, or even 3?

Life is going to be a whole lot longer than you'd like if you can't adapt and overcome.

How old were you? In my late 30s I took over a week to recover, and lost 10 pounds. OP call the office back to find out what "came up" and see if you can get a referral. Figure out your options then adapt.

Op here: Both teeth are impacted. It's not a simple case. Now apparently the dentist is only available during the week.

You have every right to be mad because he changed his availability. That would piss me off too if I specifically looked for a doctor who has Saturday availability.

If you're so hung up on your parents flying in, just change the flight. There's a flight fee, sure, but it seemed so over the top to fly them in to begin with.

OP here: I am upset because the appointment was cancelled BUT going forward apparently he won't do anymore Saturday appointments either. It doesn't sound like an emergency came up. Anyway, I am going to find another dentist.

Stop making things so difficult for yourself.

Take sick leave and if you have none, just take time off without pay. If you can afford to get orthodontia, you can afford to miss a couple days pay.

Ask a friend to help out with your kids that day and ask a friend to come stay with you in the evening if you are having general anesthesia. If you don't want to ask friends, hire a service to help you out.

OP, this sucks that they told you they'd do it and now they won't, but it is kind of unreasonable to expect that this be done on a Saturday. I understand that's a hardship for you, and I get it, but there are just certain things and certain professionals that don't do weekends. Dentistry is typically one of them.

But this guy WAS doing Saturdays.

I have to work on those days. It's not possible.

Were you planning on going back to work on the Monday after?

OP why can’t your husband help you?

And now he's not doing Saturdays. I had an emergency root canal on Saturday once. For a scheduled dental procedure, I wouldn't expect to have it done on Saturday.

You have no idea why he made this change the way he did. Not only do they have no obligation to tell you the reason why, it would inappropriate to give you the reasons why he had to make the change. Your sense of entitlement is mind-blowing.

But some of the oral surgeons/ dentists do work Saturday, therefore it is not unreasonable to think you can find one.
This guy did. That’s why she chose him.

I would find someone new.
