Chicago is the capital of the Midwest , as far as flyover go its the standout. I mean isn't it like the third largest city in the country or something ? |
Stay in flyover and attend weekly suicide and heroin laced funerals |
The presidency, you dolt. |
To be fair Connecticut isn't for the faint of heart . It ain't cheap , low income liberals regardless will have a hard time living there |
There are 50 big, beautiful United States, all with different things to offer. To say there are “no jobs” in “fly over” states is totally wrong.
And, for those of you who think people from other parts of the country should move to the coast for those wonderful job opportunities and “competitive peers,” are you ready for skyrocketing cost of living? How about even more congested traffic? How about increased day care costs because of demand? Some people move AWAY from the coasts exactly for these reasons. |
Thanks captain obvious , we're waiting for flyover to become as prosperous as Switzerland . In the meantime here's a lesson for you , nobody knows you like your own , the bloated carrot garnered something like 6% of the votes in NYC because unlike you flyover denizens who seem to have been euphoric that finally a 'yankee' didn't look down on you .we, his longtime neighbors and fellow NYC knew he's never succeeded at anything in his life and the presidency will just be another failure added to his already bloated portfolio of failures . You think people look down on flyover country now ,just wait . |
I think the point is that those who are chronically unemployed in flyover country because they can't find jobs should move to where the jobs are more plentiful, ie WV coal country to, say, ND or even NE, where the current unemployment rate is below the national average. You see, they don't even have to move to the coastal cities. But, it does mean that they have to probably re-train and move. But, they aren't willing to even re-train. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-trump-effect-coal-retraining-insight/awaiting-trumps-coal-comeback-miners-reject-retraining-idUSKBN1D14G0 |
There are professional jobs in flyover country, of course, but not much depth in their economies, so job hopping is nearly impossible, wage growth is terrible. Locals are so provincial. Sure there are some sophisticated doctors, lawyers and execs ... but again, not much depth. Most folks are dull and slow and myopic. |
Wow. What a statement. Perhaps they are “dull and slow and myopic” from your perspective because you present yourself with such arrogance that these folks are not interested in your conversation or opinion. |
Of course there are plenty of job opportunities in DC. That's where everyone sends their tax dollars to be pissed away, although they don't get much back! It is the teat of the country. |
That’s true. DC is the real “taker” in this country. |
DC definitely has a high unemployment rate. But, how many who work in DC actually live in DC? Judging by the traffic around the DC area, beltway and outside of it, seems to me many who work in DC don't actually live there. |
Are you drunk or do you just have trouble putting together coherent sentences? |
Yikes. This thread is full of lazy stereotypes. I was an east coast best and brightest. Ended up in dc. Moved back to my flyover city. I live in the city here and my life is way more cultured and nice than when I lived in suburban dc (because I couldn't afford to live I dc proper). The divide in America is urban rural and these blanket statements about flyover country are just lazy. |
And yet their candidate won. Perhaps denigrating them less and trying to speak to the issues that concern them might be a better approach. |
