It is not like you can snap your fingers and create a new life on the east coast when 4 generations have been coal miners in WV.

As you watch dead broke often illiterate people flee conflict in the Mid East, Central America, etc. how can you say this with a straight face? How did Americans populate the west? They got off their freakin’ asses and fearlessly moved to better their families.

Ok. Well, good luck with that. This is why DJT won. Please stop because you make things worse. We ended up with an idiot for President. You do not understand flyover country. Have you ever been there?

Np Djt won what? Like seriously , take your own advice and stop because I can assure you a full four years of the bloated carrot and the already declining midwestern population will be further diminished. So again this is why Djt won what ? You're not as clever as you seem to delude yourself into thinking

The presidency, you dolt.

I recall the president saying people should just move.

“I’m going to start explaining to people: When you have an area that just isn’t working like upper New York state, where people are getting very badly hurt, and then you’ll have another area 500 miles away where you can’t get people,” President Trump said. “I’m going to explain, you can leave.”

Great cost-benefit analysis. Don't forget to factor in their advantage in picking up an opioid addiction, an out of wedlock birth, and lower SAT/ACT score.

You do know that the Washington Metro area is filled with people addicted to opioids, a minority population that values out of wedlock birth and a high school where kids are admitted to college without attending classes or graduating.

Deep red Alabama has a progressive blue Mayor in Birmingham

And now they have a Dem Senator, too.

So let's keep tabs on what happens to Birmingham, shall we?

The progressive blue mayor in Birmingham has engineered one of the highest violent crime rates in the United States. It only lags Chicago which has -- wait for it -- another progressive blue mayor.

Obviously, it's not all about the low taxes. For some companies, it's about an educated class, which the middle doesn't have a lot of. When you have folks saying "college education is over rated, etc...", then you end up with a population who can only work in or want manufacturing jobs, and those just aren't going to come back because we can't compete with China and Mexico with their very low wages.

For many, the "if they build it, they will come" motto doesn't apply.

Small business owner here. My business work well here because there is a high concentration of highly educated engineers. I can’t find them in BigCabin, OK.

Are you kidding. Your HB-1 visa hires would go anyplace in the States. For what you pay them, they'd probably prefer a lower COL.

Not true - a smart but disadvantaged kid from Podunk Arkansas where no one every applies to prestigious schools is going to have an advantage over the dozens of privileged kids who apply from GDS, who are a dime a dozen.

See, for example, William Jefferson Clinton.

Why don't you share with us why you think New England blue states might have better test scores on standardized educational tests and higher income earners?

Higher white population.

So any miserable people in DC that need to make bigoted attacks on the rest of the country for a pick me up.

FWIW, most people that I know you use this phrase are unsuccessful lower middle management types. The same who brag about airmiles, hotel points and similar trinkets.

Not a single employee is Hb-1. Why would you think this?

If you’re a slightly above average white male in Flyover Country, you can party like it’s 1983. And acquire a beer belly in the process.

Well you can live where you prefer but don’t bitch about not having a good paying job! Again DC isn’t my first choice for living but I have plenty of job opportunities that enable me to feed my kids. Everyone needs to choose what they will sacrifice.

Of course there are plenty of job opportunities in DC. That's where everyone sends their tax dollars to be pissed away, although they don't get much back! It is the teat of the country.

That’s true. DC is the real “taker” in this country.

DC definitely has a high unemployment rate. But, how many who work in DC actually live in DC? Judging by the traffic around the DC area, beltway and outside of it, seems to me many who work in DC don't actually live there.

The whole DC area is a taker.

And, for those of you who think people from other parts of the country should move to the coast for those wonderful job opportunities and “competitive peers,” are you ready for skyrocketing cost of living? How about even more congested traffic? How about increased day care costs because of demand?
Some people move AWAY from the coasts exactly for these reasons.

There are professional jobs in flyover country, of course, but not much depth in their economies, so job hopping is nearly impossible, wage growth is terrible. Locals are so provincial. Sure there are some sophisticated doctors, lawyers and execs ... but again, not much depth. Most folks are dull and slow and myopic.

And yet their candidate won. Perhaps denigrating them less and trying to speak to the issues that concern them might be a better approach.

here we go again , sooner or later the khaki pants and meatloaf for dinner crowd will learn ( most likely the hard way ) that we won't all suffer equally from their decision to hitch their wagon to their orange reality tv star . So if 'yet their candidate won' is all they have to show after a year some of us can't help it but mock them for the uncouth and uncivilized fools they've always been .

This is very true , it really doesn't take much to feel like some kingmaker over there

Thanks captain obvious , we're waiting for flyover to become as prosperous as Switzerland . In the meantime here's a lesson for you , nobody knows you like your own , the bloated carrot garnered something like 6% of the votes in NYC because unlike you flyover denizens who seem to have been euphoric that finally a 'yankee' didn't look down on you .we, his longtime neighbors and fellow NYC knew he's never succeeded at anything in his life and the presidency will just be another failure added to his already bloated portfolio of failures . You think people look down on flyover country now ,just wait .

Are you drunk or do you just have trouble putting together coherent sentences?

Probably not as strung out on booze , heroin and disability checks like in flyover
