Then why did you move? |
Political charlatans have no ability to fix flyover country, they’ve never fixed any region of the country ever. Only an unlettered rube would believe Trump or any other Republican or Democrat over the last 40 years who’s promised to fix a region. |
The only thing that comes close to fixing impoverished dilapidated cities is gentrification and that comes with a host if its own problems and issues. |
What is included in fly over country? All states except California and New York?
|
I've lived in NY-area, SF Bay area, South Florida and Chicago area. Except for the long winters, Chicago was hands down the best even if Illinois is a screwed up state. NY is just an expensive pressure pot of in your face people. Bay area is beautiful but the California mindset is myopic and the schools stink. South Florida is just NY-ers in shorts with face lifts. Chicago is affordable, people are nice, schools are good but those damn winters! Chicago is by far the best city in the country from May through October. |
Moved TO flyover country. |
That is not the point. People like OP make DJT more likely. We need to stop with the disdain for flyover country. |
I was an economic migrant like most of my siblings. My brother and sister who remained in our small, dying town were smart enough to figure out ways to earn very good livings and remain in a place we all love. They leave their beautiful homes overlooking lakes to visit us in our cramped McMansions on a 6,500 sq.ft. lots and wonder why we don't move to flyover country. |
The taxes in Chicago are insane and the schools suck. |
Go back a few years further to see what LBJ and his Great Society program did to this country. It turned a country of makers into one of takers. |
Oh stop it. OP is obviously a right wing troll trying to stir things up. I'm from flyover country, left it years ago, but realize why people don't leave. For one, not everyone is unemployed. All of my friends have decent jobs. They have large homes. They love their families and friends and like their quiet corner of the world, even if it looks a little worse for wear in terms of the local economy and upkeep of public spaces and despite not having easy access to the sort of offerings a larger more thriving metropolis has in terms of culture and retail and whatnot. But they have a large supportive community where people have known each other for decades and show up for weddings and funerals and bring you food when you're sick. Also almost all of my extended relatives in flyover country are Democrats and can't stomach DJT. |
Ah, clearly I needed more coffee this morning. |
At least Dems are honest about not having any easy fix for “fly-over” country. DJT just lies about having a fix. He doesn’t have one he just wanted their vote. |
There are always trade-offs. I feel like they want to have their cake and eat it too. No one gets that unless they’re family also lives in high employment cities. |
Those cities have suburbs. Try again. |
