Panera Bread is so gross, how did this place ever become a "thing"?

Okay we get it. You can stop commenting over and over now.

It was my first time commenting.

While a lot of Panera is that way, not all of it is. And they post the calorie counts of their food right on the menu board. If you are looking to cut calories, you can find options that are 300-500 calories for a meal. There are soup and salad combinations with an apple instead of bread that will keep you under 400 or 500 calories. You can't find that at McD's, BK or Wendy's. And you most definitely aren't finding that at 5Guys and the gourment burger places (Elevation Burger and such).

A cheeseburger, small fries and a small Coke at McDonald’s is 660 calories.

SUre but how many people order a small fry and small coke? Most order medium meals.

I ate at CFA today and got the spicy chicken deluxe and it was a delicious 530cal.

Agree. The worst.

The bread is meh, but there are some things I crave there: orange scones, french onion soup, the summer salad with watermelon, and the turkey flatbread. Always choose the apple, they're good.

OK, so it's not just me!

Yes! Especially the chicken and turkey.

I really liked thier food until recently. Up until then it had been fresh and tasted good. I mainly get salads and vegetarian sandwiches. But my last few visits, the quality really fell. I had no interest in finishing my salas after a few bites. The location I go is relatively new. I wonder if they all start out good, but then quality fall after awhile.

It's garbage empty calorie not fresh at all fast food. The meal you paid $25 for isn't worth $5.

Sorry but again, I don't find $25 expensive for two meals and drinks.

So in addition to their calorie fat & sodium bomb meals, you take their sugar bomb drinks too. Yikes.

Lmao Oh I'm sorry. I didn't realize getting 2 water bottles with our meals was a sugar bomb. You seem overly angry with Panera lmao move on

You drink water out of a plastic bottle? ? Environment? Endocrine disrupting chemical bath??
Do people still do that?

Lmao you lunatic. I sure do!!! Even buy 24 packs for my house. Oh well

Yuck. Please reconsider. It’s not healthy for you and it’s horrible for the environment. Get a filter for your water tap - or don’t you have cold filtered fridge water?? And fill up a stainless steel swell bottle. 1000x better.

But there are so many fresh real places these days -anyone been to Fish Taco? Omg, yummy fresh food.
I’m sure it’s not calorie free but the tacos come piled with various fresh veggies and sauce and they have wonderful margaritas and it’s the same cost as a Panera meal.
Love.

1/2 Mediterranean veggie sandwich with garden veggie soup

Off the pick 2 menu

Much better than McDonalds

^190 (1/2 sandwich) + 110 (soup) = 300 calories

I love their soups! I know it’s bad for me but if I’m eating at Panera I don’t care. It’s basically fast food.

Can't do that with salads. Maybe stick to those?

The lettuce comes from a bag, pre-cut, pre-washed according to the girl I asked. I had to ask because I'm allergic to the preservative spray that's used to keep pre-cut produce fresher longer. It's fine if they then wash that pre-cut stuff, but I get pretty sick if they just dump it and start using it. Her exact words were, "everything comes in bags, like, all cut up and washed so we just have to dump them in the bins and put the stuff in the correct salads. Except, like, tomatoes, because they are squishy, so we cut those here."

"Preservative spray? Holy shit. Can you provide more info please.

I know, I’m freaked out too. Yum yum!! Sounds like something you spray on Ruth Bader Ginsburg, not salad.
