Panera Bread is so gross, how did this place ever become a "thing"?

I agree it used to be decent, but the quality of the food has declined. Especially the meat, yuck.

Can't do that with salads. Maybe stick to those?

The lettuce comes from a bag, pre-cut, pre-washed according to the girl I asked. I had to ask because I'm allergic to the preservative spray that's used to keep pre-cut produce fresher longer. It's fine if they then wash that pre-cut stuff, but I get pretty sick if they just dump it and start using it. Her exact words were, "everything comes in bags, like, all cut up and washed so we just have to dump them in the bins and put the stuff in the correct salads. Except, like, tomatoes, because they are squishy, so we cut those here."

"Preservative spray? Holy shit. Can you provide more info please.

I know, I’m freaked out too. Yum yum!! Sounds like something you spray on Ruth Bader Ginsburg, not salad.

I do not eat tye precut veggies, but isn't tye preservative just a lemon juice to keep it from browning, like the pre-cut apples or lime juice that you put on avacados to keep them from browning.

I would not be too alarmed.

It’s like stepping back in time to 2004.

Some places need to remain local; once they being branching out, the food never tastes the same again and the prices just go up, up, up.

Granted the only time you know your meal is 100% healthy is to make it yourself but let’s be real, none of us have time for that in era.

The poultry on their featured holiday sandwich was worse than the strips of chicken you find in cheap chinese food.

Wall Street and MBA exec parasites. They don't care about longevity, they raise prices until the joint goes bust. Then move onto the next company they can gut.

Yup, it's bad. I always feel $15 poorer and still hungry when I leave. I have a gift card to Panera in my wallet and couldn't convince my husband to eat there for free. I've been using it to buy muffin tops (which are not awful).

They changed their menu about 2-3 years ago so that making the sandwiches would be faster. Now the paninis have been replaced by soggy flatbreads.

Isn't Panera where you go if you want to devour 1,500 calories but too high of a social class to do it at McD's?

Yep, lol that’s true for some

Yes I used to like Panera and still go there sometimes because my son loves it, but the chicken or turkey on the salads is pretty gross. The soups are ok. One time I tried their bone broth and it was disgusting and I made them give me something else. I used to like their BBQ chicken salad pretty well but they recently discontinued it.

Turkey chili w/a side salad is a good, filling meal.

My MIL LOVES Panera, one of her holiday gifts from me is Panera gift cards since they're doing the 50 dollars in gift cards, get 10 dollars free. She doesn't go that often, though, it's like her secret guilty pleasure treat to herself.

PP again. It's like she knows it's kind of yucky, but she can't help herself so she goes as a treat after her doctor when she has a good doctor's appointment.

LOL.. so true.

I hate Panera. I find all the food bland and gross. I think the PP who compared it to pre-prepared airport food to be right on target. What is up with the chicken they put on their salads?

I hate it when my company gets food from there for meetings. I rarely turn down food, but can't stomach a Panera sandwich.
