Metropolitan DC Local Politics
Well, at least you sound like a normal person, not a DCCC shrill toll. Yes, that's all true. The seat had been traditionally R but is now under challenge in part because of the demographic shift in the 10th congressional district. Most of the trolls here seem to have forgotten that she came out against Trump just before the election when the video surfaced. She is not a Trumper and never has been. I think she's done a very good job under very difficult circumstances. Her bipartisan bicameral work last week to provide a safe place for abused interns and employees has received very little attention. She has seniority which counts a lot for contituents. Most of the screaming DCCC trolls on her don't seem to realize that or are being paid not to talk about any of her positives. I think she has been terrific both as a state representative and now as our congresswoman. If we lose her, our area then goes to a dem. in a R controlled Senate. They start at the very bottom in terms of committee assignment. That would be huge loss for all constituents, dems, included in the area shoudl she lose. You want to be represented by someone with clout, in the current party, with good committee assignments. |
As long as she voted lockstep with Paul Ryan, we want her out. Her seniority won’t mean anything in a Democratic controlled House, anyway. Voting for this horrible tax bill was the final straw. It is bad for her constituents. |
and the paid hacks are back so I'm leaving this conversation. |
Paid hack? No checks from Soros in my mailbox. I live in Western Loudoun County. I have an extensive knowledge of taxes. I am speaking as a constituent who is furious with her. And she will know it. |
Nope. I’m of the ordinary Western Fairfax Mommy Trolls wasting time on a grey afternoon and keeping an eye on a kid working on a project. Comstock outperformed Trump by quite a bit in the 10th in the last election. But in my area of the country, there is mounting frustration and anger with Trump. And people are directing it toward Comstock becuase they hate having a Rep who doesn’t stand up to Trump more forcefully. You saw it in the Governors election, when 6 House of Delegates seats in her District turned blue. She also wait too long to come out against Obamacare, and she voted for the tax bill the will kill her district— and they didn’t need her vote. And if you think one of the most educated, most affluent areas of the country doesn’t track this stuff, you are delusional. I’m sorry if you don’t like the message. But the messenger is a 40something federal employee mom of 2 living in Comstock’s district. Certainly you don’t think everyone who resents being gerrymandered in with Winchester is a troll? |

Hello, western Fairfax mommy neighbor! Waving from nearby.
Plenty of people are fired up to unseat her. There is a Dump Comstock group out there that has placed billboards and has a truck that they drive around. They are not paid shills. I'm so amused that the right seems to think anyone that protests or speaks their mind needs against them is being paid to do so. They just had a meeting of district Dems yesterday to vote on having a primary to determine her challenger. There are currently 9 candidates on the Dem side hoping to take her seat. I'm pretty familiar with 2 of them. My daughter was actually in a photo shoot for one of them (my best friend met the candidate through Emerge and asked if my daughter might want to be part of it) Anyway, the grassroots are getting ready for this fight. Many of us have just had big wins in our state house districts. I know I'm excited to get started working to flip our district and hopefully the House. |
The reason they think this way is because that was their model during the Obamacare protests when Freedomworks literally buses in protestors from around the country, many of whom on SS or SSI benefits to protest the gubmint expansion. |
I'm pretty sure the few million of us who marched last January are still waiting for our checks

SMH with the poster saying people opposing Comstock must be a trollfarm. I posted on here the day of the Governor’s election that there was a lot of kick the Republicans out energy in Western Fairfax. And that when I went to vote, my polling place seemed unusually busy, and that the person who checked me in said turnout was unusually high for an off year election. And I was immediately accused of being a Soros funded troll, because anyone who lived in NOVA knew It was Gillespie for the win. How did that work out?
Comstock has done some really stupid things this year. Not holding town halls tops that list. Kowtowing to Paul Ryan and hedging her bets on ACA repeal were also bad. But voting for the stupid tax plan was a nail in her coffin. It’s like she doesn’t realize she represented a high concentration of 600k plus homes and people who pay a ton of SALT. This bill was *designed* to inflict pain on liberal elites, and her District is crammed full of liberal elites. Also, WTF is up with the poster who is going on about her seniority. She has only been in Congress since 2015. This is her second term. She has almost no seniority. It’s almost like that poster doesn’t live in Comstock’s District, or know anything about Comstock. Then again, maybe this is Comstock posting. Because it seems like she doesn’t know anything about her district either. I’ll say it again. SHE HAS NO SENIORITY. |

I didn't march in January but do live in Comstock's district. Knowing most would vote for it I expected her to vote nay. The ACA and the tax plans have positives and negatives. The ACA took money from medicare and had these fatal flaws:
-too long enrollment periods -too many plans and carriers in the same market area. 1 plan and at the most 2 carriers in a large market area. Run it like an association plan and let small businesses join. -Medicaid should have been standardized across the country. -high penalties for no enrollment. Automatic enrollment by the govt like Switzerland if no enrollment -NO grandfathered plans. Combine lower density areas. The ACA is more difficult to fix properly than tax changes. 2015-some zipcodes are 100% in the 10th District. When you look at higher incomes remember the Pease phaseout on itemized and Pep [no personal exemptions at AGI over 435 000]. Note NJ is brutal on property taxes and many retirees where possible have hopped over to PA. People here are more irritated with the ACA and the slop it has produced-people knew it would tank. Obama messed with medicare and the people charged extra -got over 8m off one zip code- are just some of those wacked with that [plus paid in huge amounts] - are part of the group with massive medicare payments. |
Not a paid hack but I have posted in this thread previously. I voted for Clinton and Comstock last year. 2017 is voted straight dem. 2018, I vote against Comstock. I realize more and more that other than a royal fu to her constituents in voting for this tax bill, my vote for her is effectively a vote for Paul Ryan to control the agenda. No thank you. |
I do love the argument that Dems should vote for her because her one term of seniority is so valuable.
I think when that poster accuses people of being part of a boiler room troll farm s/he might be projecting. |
1. Why do we need someone who is a Republican when it is looking increasingly likely that Dems will take the House? 2, what does a Republican controlled Senate have to do with this. 3.and please tell me what kind of amazing committees a 2nd term Congresswomen (there less than 3 years)gets appointed to? And especially appointed to lead? 4. Also, why would her constituent give her power, if she is using it to help Paul Ryan and corporate donors, and not her constituents? |
So you have a gerrymandering problem. |
