Missing Muslim teen found dead in Fairfax County - suspect arrested

The police seem pretty sure this was not a hate crime, I can't see them coming to that conclusion willy nilly. Hopefully more information will be released. They can always up the charge later if evidence proves otherwise.

On another note, the killer looks beat up in his mug shot. I wonder if he got those marks from this incident.

There's definitely a lot more info that hasn't been released to the public.

What a terrible tragedy to happen to that girl and her family, especially on Father's day. The family has set up a gofundme:

OP here, and someone who has been connected to ADAMS in the past.

I completely get raising funds for funeral costs, especially since Muslim burial practices recommend burying the deceased fast and ASAP - even same day ideally (but likely delayed in this case due to criminality). Would this 200k raised be used for legal fees? Was Nabra a breadwinner for her family? I'm all for raising funds in needy situations and get that somehow a donation is another person's way of "helping" where they may feel helpless in a senseless death... but... still a little weird and large amount.

But does anyone know more?

OMG thank you for saying this!! There's also a GoFundMe. I'm so sick of funding campaigns for every damn tragedy. And why do people blindly donate without asking where the money is going? There could be many legitimate reasons for needing funds, but they haven't listed a single one.

I understand if you won't want to give to her gofund me - I was raised muslim in the area where she was killed and my parents still live near by. My mother shops at the giant near where she was taken.

You don't have to give to her gofundme - give somewhere else - time; kindness or money to someone who needs it.

People give because they want to put some good in the world after seeing something so horrible. I didn't give - I gave to someone else who survived a hate attack.

be the change.

It's just what this area does. A 6 month old was killed in a crosswalk in Loudoun last year and his family got over $100k between Go Fund Me and other fundraisers and and people were still asking for donations for food and refreshments for the funeral on FB. It is ridiculous but it's just knee jerk now.

Awful tragedy. So senseless and sad.

The guy in question turned out to be undocumented. If Trump was any good at his hate...he would embrace the cause of this girl and make a big deal out of it.

The Fairfax police had a press conference this evening which you can watch here:

https://www.pscp.tv/w/1MYGNAPnYdwKw

Some points:

-- this is being considered a case of road rage

-- the group of young people included both females and males. One male on a bike was in the roadway and got into an argument with Torres

-- Torres pulled his car up on the curb, causing the group to scatter

-- Torres then parked his car in a parking lot, got out and chased the group, catching Nabra

-- There is no evidence of this being a hate crime, but if such information surfaces charges will be lodged.

Was that in the news conference? I haven't found confirmation of it from a reliable source yet.
