Not that PP, but obviously 18:35 was referencing historical trends, not individuals. Of course not every individual white student will have hoods. But in the aggregate, white Americans throughout history had many more advantages than minorities. |
Omg I meant hooks, not hoods. Lol. |
| A lot of hidden envy in this thread |
Freudian slip?
|
| Why do some minorities come here if there is bias? They and their family did not suffer in America. |
| Only in America can you slip in, go on welfair and still have all the benefits of minority preferences. Who can blame them. |
I am so sick of this type of comment everytime anything good happens to a black person. Most ivy league schools have only 5% balck students -- foreign or domestic. Do you really think none of them are qualified? They are not taking the place of your special white kid. Get over it. For these schools about 30 percent are legacies, white athletes in white sports like lacrosse and rowing, and worse "development cases" like Jared Kushner, i.e. mega rich kids whose parents are not alumni but pledge millions. Its a measure of how racist our society is that people feel free to say this young woman is not qualified, but nothing is said about huge number of "less qualified" white people admitted. It's sickening. signed -- grandmother of black ivy student with high grades, 34 ACT, and amazing ECs that most white kids can't come near -- including international recognition. And don't tell me that its becusae of affirmative action that people will think he's not qualified to be where he is... its not affirmative action, Its racism pure and simple. |
| They really have to lower the bar for that 5%. Who would you want as your doctor? |
| your a racist pig. you would be lucky to have someone like my grandson be your doctor. |
I know that I wouldn't want you for my doctor. You (and your mediocre children) can only dream of being admitted to any Ivy League university. You're so angry and full of hate...and it will consume you. |
Surely they can get into UMD? If they are remotely "outstanding". Sounds like your kids will be fine no matter where they go. Elite universities can transform lives of those who aren't nearly as fortunate as your kids. How outstanding would they be if you didn't speak English at home, couldn't get a decent job, were worried about being deported, etc. The society I want to live in has compassion for those less fortunate. |
+1 I think it's spillover from the political forum. Or, people feel emboldened after Trump's election to show their true colors. |
How do you know they have to lower their bar? Who cares what race your doctor is as long as they are qualified? |
Maybe the admissions people were tired of reading essay after essay of fake public service so you can get into an Ivy and credentials that showed your rich parents put you on the right path and saw a kid with something fresh and different and a promise and thought, we need that. Maybe she earned her spot, just not according to your stuffy boring and completely useless standards. I know many people with the above credentials and they are awful humans. Maybe she is not and they wanted to encourage diversity. |
| The girl in question has rich parents. Her mom works for the govt and those salaries are a matter of public record. She makes 130k and has a phd. parents are complaining that she didn't get tuition aid because they make too much money. But nice try there. |
