DCUM is beginning to sound like a white supremacist site, and I'm a WASP. All the people slamming AA admissions would use any hook they had to get their kid into an Ivy and whites have a lot more hooks than people of color. Balancing the scales through affirmative action is totally justified.

My DC has some amazing accomplishments as well but didn't get in. Oh well, DC is just an ordinary kid from the suburbs. Not enough.

+100. I'm sure that none of the bigots posting here have a problem with legacy admissions that advantages their children. This, despite the fact that Blacks weren't accepted at many majority colleges and universities until the 60s and 70s. White affirmative action is perfectly fine with them.

+1. White families historically have had significantly more advantages over minority families that have given them a leg up in many realms, including educational opportunities. Note as just one example the current thread about a family friend getting their child off an elite college's waitlist. How many AA or Latino families do you know who can call on friends/associates for such favors? Not even close.

The success of Jews at elite universities is because they practice discrimination against non Jews. Jews always promote, hire, admit Jews over non Jews. Just look at the College admission statistics and the number of Jews in positions of power in the Education system, media, Hollywood, etc. The elite universities are 25-27% Jewish. Most of the presidents and provosts are Jewish also. Good for this young woman for getting in. But if Nigerian Americans represented 2% of the population and all of a sudden 27% of the students at elite universities were Nigerian American and if all the presidents and provosts were Nigerian American there would be an uproar. The Jewish minority do not mind discrimination against non Jewish whites when it keeps them in a minority majority. Good for this hard working student for getting in to these schools. They would never allow for the schools to be 27% Nigerian American like they have allowed them to be 27% Jewish.

She's not a white male with a cookie cutter essay, academic record and summers of saving orphans in Haiti. Did you read her essay? Any knowledge of her extracurriculars? 18:35 i have no hooks. Furthermore my family settled and built this great country from the start. Distant relatives founded UMD and Georgetown. Yet my kids as outstanding as they are have less of a chance getting admitted than an illegal with a B- average. Is this a society you want to be a part of?
