She's not a white male with a cookie cutter essay, academic record and summers of saving orphans in Haiti. Did you read her essay? Any knowledge of her extracurriculars? Would you be questioning her acceptances if she wasn't Nigerian? Good for these schools for accepting this young lady. Any of them will be blessed to have her. |

| I think the fact that these spots are being taken by African immigrants rather than descendants of African American slaves is very wrong and a disservice to those whose ancestors literally suffered and died in the service of our country. Right. Nothing special about this girl. All EIGHT Ivy League colleges clearly made a bad choice! Congrats to this extraordinary young lady. I look forward to her contributions to the country. |

And for all the "URM/special treatment" whiners, it's not like URM is get into Harvard free ticket. Even if it is easier to get into an Ivy as a URM, it's still hard, and you still have to be accomplished. You get plus points, not guaranteed anything. If this girl was really a cookie cutter/ run of the mill URM with good grades and solid SATs and nothing else, then, yes, maybe she could have convinced 1-2 Ivys to admit her. But all the Ivys plus Stanford saw something. That's either a huge coincidence or this girl actually is something special. So maybe give her the benefit of the doubt and act like gracious adults. (And BTW-- I agree with the argument that this girl, with her UMC advantages and highly educated parents is not the type of student who should get a URM boost. I think this is an excellent example of why we should move beyond "URMs" for affirmative action, and focus on the FARMS population and first gen college (which already happens) for affirmative action instead, since these are the kids who don't get the advantage of good school districts, private school, summer enrichment camps, SAT tutoring, extracurriculars, etc. But, this girl still accomplished something special. All of the Ivys plus Stanford don't independently admit the same unqualified candidate). |

+1. I mean, geez! As my kids say, some of y'all are just haters. Googling her and her HS? Talking about her accomplishments "are not that great!" Frankly, who really gives a darn about what any of think. She clearly is smart and worked hard. Give her credit for that. Damn! |

The success of Jews at elite universities is because they practice discrimination against non Jews. Jews always promote, hire, admit Jews over non Jews. Just look at the College admission statistics and the number of Jews in positions of power in the Education system, media, Hollywood, etc. The elite universities are 25-27% Jewish. Most of the presidents and provosts are Jewish also. Good for this young woman for getting in. But if Nigerian Americans represented 2% of the population and all of a sudden 27% of the students at elite universities were Nigerian American and if all the presidents and provosts were Nigerian American there would be an uproar. The Jewish minority do not mind discrimination against non Jewish whites when it keeps them in a minority majority. Good for this hard working student for getting in to these schools. They would never allow for the schools to be 27% Nigerian American like they have allowed them to be 27% Jewish. |
