Or perhaps I've seen too many postings on Craigslist and heard too many things about "Spaworld."

All I know is, women don't ever have this problem in their locker rooms.

Women understand this. There is man on this forum why has been posting for pages trying to explain away this behavior as innocent (at best), or blame it on the two boys for all sorts of horrible reasons (at worse). Female teachers don't put themselves in these situations to begin with.

The list of teachers with student sex problems is pretty long, and there are a lot of women on it.

There have been some truly awful women who have abused their position, for sure. There's no justification for it. But it's not happening in locker rooms. There's no confusion or justification for innocent naked locker room/shower/gym/sauna behavior. That venue is something only men seem to have a challenge with.

Wow. Very sad for these boys and their families who aren't even in this teacher's school district. I think most parents want to hear more about what the boys saw the teacher actually doing.

Also, the PP complaining about people and the media reporting/judging this teacher based simply on his arrest and thereby ruining his career . . . give me a break, instead of taking this thread down from the top of the forum and letting it die, you keep highlighting it and perpetuating it with your awful comments that do make it appear as if you are friends with the teacher, or even the teacher himself.

There are a range of possible scenarios - from it's all true to it's a false accusation. There will be no video for obvious reasons. Hopefully for all parties, there is some way to corroborate (or not) the accusation.

The teens are anonymous. The other guy has had his pic and accusation posted everywhere.

that is how the legal system works
teachers are held to a higher standard, kids identities protected, and adults who get arrested go on the FCPD police blog with a pic

I know. My point was addressing the bolded. The teens are t exactly being maligned since their identity is a secret.

anyone advocating for these kids identities to be revealed is not a parent. maligning the "legal system" for protecting them, and the kids themselves for being protected, needs their head examined.

Again, missing the point completely. Advocating not having anyone's identity revealed and run through the courts of public opinion until the Courts decide. People have committed suicide over false accusations and undue ridicule.

How about everyone lets it rest until it goes to court?

How do you know the boys don't attend Yorktown?

I don't see anyone saying this teacher may not have done something improper or maligning the youths who reported him. You, on the other hand, have no respect for the concept of innocent until proven guilty, want to prejudge his guilt, and keep making posts that border on the prurient.

You are the same poster over and over? Enough of the broken record PLEASE.

No. I guess it bothers you that multiple posters just want to let this be decided by the courts.

Pretty pathetic, Mr. Lenihan.

The first thing his lawyer would have told him is not to talk to anyone about this, much less post about it on social media or Internet forums. You really don't have a clue, do you?

If he is innocent, I hope he lawyers up and sues the teens, their parents, the school district, etc. Btw, this is a good reason not to go to gym. Any prepubescent kid can point at you, lie and you lose your job, life, family. This is some fucked up shit. Even with probable cause, it's only been hours and there's no way authorities had time to conduct proper investigation and determine guilt. I'd sue the police department as well if they did anything wrong. Fact is that even if the teens recant their story, this man is ruined. Search engines have a long memory and he'll always be cast as a pedo.

Not to mention that the 16 yo and 17 yo accusers were apparently showering together.
Kind of hard to make a "pedo" argument -- in most places, 16 is the age of consent, anyway. It's not like he was leering at 7 yo boys.

We don't know what happened. But my "oh, bullshit" radar goes off when this has to do with a man being naked in a gym locker room. It's absolutely possible something untoward happened. It's equally possible there's a misunderstanding or the teens made a wrong/false accusation for some reason.

Link for this? If true, kind of changes the equation a bit.

You people are slime. Leave the boys out of it!!!! They were not arrested for indecent exposure. Lenihan was. Boys are witnesses.

*100

Their accusations may or may not hold up. If there can be a female Tawana Brawley and a Jackie, two boys may or may not be telling the truth.

Quit trying to blame the boys you jerk-this educator was charged with a CRIME!

And not yet convicted. Even in the Age of Trump, defendants still have rights.

Tawana Brawley was a 15-year-old teenager when she made her false accusations. It happens (and she was found guilty of defamation as well).

The same poster who has been working for 7 pages to point fingers at everyone else including female teachers. How many women are looking to excuse this possible behavior because a 16 year old can give consent? Is that age even correct . . . And who cares if it is

Nope, multiple posters with a range of views on this thread. I'm among those saying this should be resolved in court, with the defendant entitled to due process, but I disagree with the poster(s) who say this should never have been made public.

how the hell do these women, many of whom were married and were mothers themselves, only get a slap on the wrist for raping boys? WTF in all holy hell?

If you are in a locker room and see teenagers around, I don't care what the situation is or what is legally allowed, you don't walk around naked, and you don't certainly look at them. Put a towel on. I don't care what your habits are, or what some men like to do, you simply don't do it in that situation if you don't want to take a chance of being arrested. Now that he is arrested, he is going to live with the consequences of giving the police probable cause to arrest him. All the defenders of this idiot are talking about things that are completely irrelevant to the situation. I could give you countless stories of teachers who do in fact abuse teenagers srxually, but I don't because that is irrelevant to this guy. Bottom line: This is a story that everyone in the media will be following, it is fair to do so, and to all the defenders, I say what are you going to cry about next when a district attorney decides there is enough evidence to prosecute the idiot?!? Yes you are innocent until proven guilty in this country, unlike others, but you are pretty naive to think that is how life works. Judgements are made all the time based on your arrest record, whether charged or not. Then if you get actually charged with a crime and prosecuted, more judgments are made. This includes not only in job applications, but also in your ability to practice law after a bar ethics examination. Our legal system cares about arrests, so accept it and quit whining with ridiculous defenses of this idiot. All the defenders of this potential pervert are clueless. In fact, these defenders may all be the same person. Many, many, many parents will be following this story to see if the DA charges him. Right now, this teacher is under crinal investigation for a potential sex crime. Fair and accurate. Get a grip yourself.

Shut up and let this work itself through the system. You are a gasbag full of yourself with no more to add than anyone else.

No one is defending him. We are not judging him or interested in spreading gossip. Big difference.

I workout almost every day, am at the gym probably 4-5x a week, and this is never ever an issue in women's locker rooms, saunas, etc. Yes, there are those people who will chitchat with their boobs out - it's awkward and I avoid it, but there's never any concern that the person is being deliberately creepy. For some reason only men have this problem. I don't understand why as a teacher, you would not make greater attempts to keep a towel around your waist when moving around a locker room.

-100. I don't understand why, as a parent, you would not make greater attempts to keep your teens away from a teacher who may be moving around a locker room without a towel around his waist.

Because based on the police report, the teens were keeping away and it was the other way around.

"Officers were called to the 8200 block of Greensboro Drive, a Sports and Health Club, yesterday around 9:30 p.m. for a report of a man exposing himself to two juveniles in the locker room. The victims, 16 and 17 years old, told employees that a man had watched them in the shower and followed them around the locker room while exposing himself.

Officers located the suspect at the business and identified him as Thomas Lenihan, 38, of Falls Church. Lenihan is currently employed as a teacher in Arlington County at Yorktown High School. He was arrested, taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with two misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure. He was released on a $5,000 bond."

It's they said, he said.
Innocent until proven guilty.

That's not on point. PP was giving her opinion about how all male teachers need to act in a locker room setting, not the allegations in this specific instance.

I have read nothing saying the teens showered togerher - This shows the lengths people are going to. Making stuff up. SAD. (

Sorry, yes it was. Interesting to learn the juveniles were not reported for following the 38 year old around.
