Update...

If the man really did tip 1 cent and paid with a CC, why doesn't the guy give the news outlet the visa statement proving that? What are facts? I initially thought the waitress could have made it up, but if the client can easily prove his innocence, why is he not doing so? What is he hiding?

He is hiding his identity, which I don't blame him for. But he did show his receipt. That's more information than his Visa statement would show.

Which you clicked on, perused, and took time to write a comment on.

I find it fascinating. What was the waitress hoping for??? Is she a compulsive liar? Does she have other mental issues?

Actually, it's 7 pages on the non-story and others like it, as well as discussion about racism and how it is presented (and not presented). That's how discussion boards work.

I think the waitress had read about other people coming forward with objectionable receipts, some true, and got something out of it. She got some money from a GoFundMe, I think. Remember the woman with the child who needed facial reconstructive surgery and the KFC hoax? She claimed they were kicked out because the child was too disturbing to look at. That was completely made up and KFC easily proved it, but gave her $$$ to cover the kid's surgeries anyway. My guess is that in this case, the waitress was pissed that the guy left a shitty tip and got the idea to not only make him look like an asshole, but also maybe get some cash for herself. She didn't count on him fighting back with authenticity. And even though he did, there are still believe her.
