I am always skeptical of these stories particularly when they quickly become cash grabs. It's nothing personal against the beloved waitress whom I don't know and who I really don't think has anything to do with this getting so out of hand.

If he didn't write it and was publicly named as someone who did his character was tarnished and he is absolutely entitled to that! That is pure defamation.

When the ashburn colored school was tagged with slurs that was racism and nobody denies it. Nobody denies there is racism and it happens all the time. Saying this incident seems either faked or exaggerated isn't the same thing as saying racism doesn't exist.

People are desperately discrediting it because it says "reprint". That's it. There has been another example of this in the same area (see it above- in the tip line it says "tip citizens").

You and other posters are inventing stories (it's the bus boy! It's the NAACP) instead of allowing that this clearly could have happened in this intolerant political climate.

By the way, I've definitely seen reprint on top of a merchant copy's receipt. And I've also changed my handwriting mid sentence (as I posted above and you all ignored, conveniently).

You know the real reason you're busy trying to discredit the story- you don't want to admit how racist this country really is.

I am well aware of how racist this country is. Fake story don't do a thing to make people more aware- in fact, they do harm, because when they're discredited THAT is when people try to claim "See racism isn't real." You're free to think it's real. I happen to not. That does not mean I deny racism.

Based on what you posted, I think you're a racist. You are desperately trying to discredit the story with no factual basis. In fact, this has happened before and the "discrepancies" can be explained pretty easy and reasonably. Credible sources have investigated[u] and determined it is a real story. Yet you seem obsessed with discrediting it.

Some of the receipt messages that have proven to be BS were not based on race. I don't see how this one should be considered 100% true because it refers to the server's race. If it turns out to be true, I will believe it. Until then, I am skeptical of anything that has the potential to turn a rude note into thousands of dollars in donations.

Again, no one cares. When a racist event happens, I let the facts play out. I don't automatically assume it is a scam, hoax, etc.
