Yes I should have enclosed receipt in the quotations as well. The message is racist no matter if the receipt is legit or not. |
It's a reprint The handwriting is obviously different in the numbers/sig the racist message No date is pictured It supposedly was posted right after it happened but the receipt is old and crumpled and faded No name above credit card authorization line Those are the things that set off my alarm bells. |
| I'll have to check out the story. But the message was written on a reprint of the receipt? |
np. I would be upset of any fraudulent Go Fund Me page. And I agree with OP that this smacks of fraud. It sounds like a ginned up bid for sympathy and money. Saying that isn't racist. Now, if I were to say something like, "why is it always the blacks who commit fraud like this?" That would be racist. But I didn't say that, did I? Why are you so willing to accept this at face value? Are you gullible by nature or is there some affinity there at play? If the latter, you might be the racist. |
Yes if you look at the poicctire of the receipt it says "reprint:1" |
| The other red flag about this is who goes crying to the news media and try to gin up Facebook outrage in situations like this? |

This sort of thing:
http://jezebel.com/waitress-who-faked-anti-gay-receipt-also-lied-about-giv-1478119558 But then some are real: http://www.snopes.com/2016/08/21/virginia-server-gets-racist-note-instead-of-tip/ But asking the question about whether it's a hoax isn't racist. Sheesh. |
The waitress actually did not even post it originally and I don't think she had anything to do with it. She seems kind and earnest and without guile. But I don't think this happened the way whoever DID put it out there is saying. There's just holes IMO. |

I have a hearty dose of skepticism on all of these bigotry by receipt stories. Who the f*ck writes that? I grew up in the south and have met my fair share of serious racists. The focus was on preventing non-whites from mingling and mixing with whites, not passive aggressive notes about tips. Black people waiting on white people would have been ideal in their minds.
If it is proven to be true, then I'll believe it. Until then, it seems like a way for people to get money. |
SCAM!!! SCAM!!! Handwriting different is a real red flag. This kind of behavior really pisses me off. Even if this truly happened, why does the waitress deserve $7,500? Can I post every time I am discriminated against as an Asian, even in my highly educated and professional work setting? Or by random strangers? Every time I am called something? Oooooh, I claim emotional distress and PTSD. Of course discrimination offends me, but I move on. I do not have people set up fundraising on my behalf. |

If this happened at a Leesburg restaurant, I'd probably be more inclined to believe it because of the redneck to normal person ration, but in Ashburn? Nah. Ashburn is very multi-cultural.
*Puts on expert hat* The racist writing looks like a woman's handwriting and the numerical part looks like a man's handwriting. And my fear of sketchy waiters and waitress pulling a scam like this on me is why I've started writing CASH in the tip section instead of drawing a line through it. I always leave a cash tip when eating out because I know that cc tips are taxed and being a server is hard enough without having your 20-25% tip taxed. Especially when a portion of that tip is probably going to be split between bussers, runners, and the service bartender. |
| This happened a few years back, except it was an African American pastor. She had been brunching with congregants and wrote a haughty little note. The waitress I believe was fired for posting it. |

I go to Loudoun Coubty occasionally and found restaurant servers extremely nice and professional. The contrast to inside the Beltway service is amazing and I overtop them
This waitress appeared to be that type of server and the couple were jerks fir not tipping her. The racist message was worse |
I don't know. Loudoun people love to set up GFMs and such to throw money at every single thing. A local student recently died and his family asked the one set up for them be shit down. When that baby died in the crosswalk his family got over $100k. |
