Please show me where anyone said there's no racism. I'll wait.

When the ashburn colored school was tagged with slurs that was racism and nobody denies it. Nobody denies there is racism and it happens all the time. Saying this incident seems either faked or exaggerated isn't the same thing as saying racism doesn't exist.

People are desperately discrediting it because it says "reprint". That's it. There has been another example of this in the same area (see it above- in the tip line it says "tip citizens").

You and other posters are inventing stories (it's the bus boy! It's the NAACP) instead of allowing that this clearly could have happened in this intolerant political climate.

By the way, I've definitely seen reprint on top of a merchant copy's receipt. And I've also changed my handwriting mid sentence (as I posted above and you all ignored, conveniently).

You know the real reason you're busy trying to discredit the story- you don't want to admit how racist this country really is.

I am well aware of how racist this country is. Fake story don't do a thing to make people more aware- in fact, they do harm, because when they're discredited THAT is when people try to claim "See racism isn't real." You're free to think it's real. I happen to not. That does not mean I deny racism.

Maybe you're not overtly racist, but your motivation is suspect at best. I think you are racist, and that's your motivation. That's MY opinion. Oh, and I'm not black.

You have absolutely no reason for thinking I am racist. I think Sherri Papini was a hoax. Does that make me racist? You have no idea what line of work I'm in, what race I am, or how I live my life. But because I doubt a story, you think I'm racist.

Based on what you posted, I think you're a racist. You are desperately trying to discredit the story with no factual basis. In fact, this has happened before and the "discrepancies" can be explained pretty easy and reasonably. Credible sources have investigated and determined it is a real story. Yet you seem obsessed with discrediting it.

The only motivation for you is racism. That's my opinion, and I don't care to discuss it with you further.

what a tiny simple world you live in then where racism can be the only explanation for questioning a news story

I would swear this exact phrase was written on a receipt elsewhere in the last several years posted on social media... I could see it being the same racist weirdo signing receipts that way.

The news reported the story as told.
There's no investigation because it isn't a crime to not leave a tip. Maybe Snopes will pick it up. You know, that racist bastion of fact checking.

I'm having trouble believing this. Ashburn is really diverse. I'd say at least 60% of my neighbors are Asian or Indian. Lots of Hispanics too. It's just not that racist of a place, nor is it lily white here. There aren't that many black people here though, but that seems to be a problem in VA. I work in Dulles and have lots of black coworkers, but they all have long commutes back to MD.

I know what you mean. These idiot devices that enable instant communication with people around the world! And access to news sites and shopping. While walking around! I ABSOLUTELY HATE THESE MIRACULOUS THINGS.

HAHA!!!! Some people shouldn't use their phones for this site, or re-read what you typed before hitting send.

The topic at hand, someone on Reddit has a theory that the receipt is a duplicate copy and the waitress made the whole thing up.

"Someone on Reddit" has a theory tht every goddamn thing is made up.

Before I get accused of being a covert racist again, that is its name. It's an old schoolhouse from the 1920s and that was its name. It's a big restoration project to get it restored and as a museum type exhibit to honor the history of it. It educated black students whose parents worked on the W&OD in the post-safety era.

Sorey, not even the 1920s- I think it goes back to the late 1800s. It was the first school for black children in Loudoun county.
Anonymous
OP it says there were 2 guests on the receipt. I think it's real and that it happened. I don't see why someone would automatically be skeptical. She's a popular and beloved waitress at that restaurant.

Maybe it is the new thing among white people as a way to stiff servers on tips.
Anonymous
A receipt being old and crumpled and faded means nothing in terms of time anymore. Most stores use fading ink, and all it takes is an hour of a receipt in my diaper bag to make my grocery store receipt look like it was from last year.

I could see anonymity protecting the card holder. Much of the information was blurred out, as it should be. That is private information.
