Will they ever get rid of the principal at Ritchie Park

Anonymous
I volunteer. I like the PTA and I don't like the Principal. You can feel one way and one thing and not one way about the other. Just because you volunteer and try to make the school better doesn't mean you like the principal. I can separate the two.

I also don't like the boosterathon.

I think there is more than one here. I like the principal and for the most part I like the PTA. I realize they put in a ton of extra effort. But there is less of a community feel at this school. Things are decided in a room of 5 or 6 board members and not at the meetings where there should be votes for or against events, fundraisers, monetary decisions, etc... Why bother being a PTA member if you have no say? Instead they try to speed thru a meeting rattling off quick info, getting annoyed if someone raises their hand, all so they can have some guest speaker talk about how to get lice out of your hair. If you have no say and already know how to get rid of lice, what is the point of going to a meeting?

+1 As a PTA member, why don't we get the right to vote for everything? I'd rather spend most of the time discussing events, etc... than hearing about lice. Maybe they could have guest speakers every other meeting, and the rest of the time go over events, budgets, etc... and let the PTA have their say by voting.

Why would a PTA meeting have a lice person there? That is weird.

I hope you get lice, 12:01.

Haha, this thread is hilarious. The PP has to be either:

1. A child home from school looking at Mommy's laptop
2. On the PTA board
3. The lice presenter
4. The principal who keeps encouraging the distraction
5. A troll

Either way, I just got myself a bowl of popcorn. This is a treat!

Are you the same nasty person from before? Way to be civil.

I have never had a negative interaction with our principal. I just feel like she is not connected to our school on a personal level. I am not sure if this is too much to ask or if other principals act similarly. I like our school community, have been happy with the staff and teachers and have not had a negative experience with the PTA.

The better question is, why wouldn't a PTA bring in a lice person to talk about a problem that faces many people in the school? Seems like a good idea to me. I wonder if the person eating popcorn liked it?

The principal's communication through the armed robbery in the neighborhood was unacceptable. Releasing walkers and not letting parents know what was going was ridiculous.

Because it is a PTA meeting. If you want to bring in a presenter, it should be offered to everyone on a separate date. Some people want to go to one thing and not the other.

Our school (not RP) almost always has a speaker along with the meeting..internet safety..curriculum info etc. I think it is a good way to go. Don't stay for that if you are not interested.

Does the PTA meeting actually require PTA membership? Our ES does not require membership for you to attend the meetings. For meetings with highly publicized topics (curriculum, internet safety, home/personal safety), we get a large crowd and then they all drop after the presentation portion is over.

I think a lice presentation sounds pretty relevant in an ES setting. So would flu/communicable diseases.

Here we go again, 16:59. Such a Debbie Downer! Why don't you support your school and join the PTA??

It is not realistic to offer that many different PTA meetings and expect people will attend. In the past when only PTA issues were discussed there were only 5-10 people attending meetings. I am not interested in all of the topics that are always offere but I think speakers draw a larger crowd. Ideally business should be covered in the first 20 minutes and a speaker can have the rest of the time.
