Are there any EOTP elementary schools (non-charter) that are great past K?

Peabody is A part of the cluster school, which is Peabody, Watkins, and Stuart-Hobson. Strange how you knew Peabody only went until K, but couldn't figure out what the poster meant by Peabody.

Watkins -- the "past K" part of Peabody -- is an embarrassment of a school. that's why the precious cluster does not rate when the actual question ask is, "What is a great EOTP school past K ?"

Are you stupid? Maury zone is a 10-15 walk to eastern market and a 10-15 min walk to H street. You're in the middle of everything, without the hobo problems of Eastern Market or H st.

Also SS is a dump

^^^^^ this person doesn't have children and so should not be considered credible when discussing schools, the topic of this thread.

(PoP migrants: you give yourselves away when you preen about how awesome!! it is to be close to H Street. Nobody with actual elementary-aged children gives a flying fuck about quick and easy proximity to bars)

What makes Watkins an embarrassment of a school, exactly?

+100. Best thing is to actually check out open houses of the particular schools you are interested in, and talk to current families.

Also none of the opinions have a shred of evidence to support them. Bancroft and Powell over Maury? Really? Have you even looked at any test scores?

And furthermore- ranking them makes NO SENSE!

Um I have three kids and love to walk to H street. Great places to take the kids for lunch and lots of really great spots for date night. I love not wasting any time driving to a destination when I can quickly walk over.

Lots of people feel this way. Can we please stop talking about stuff that we don't understand?

I went out of my way to go to Bullfrog Bagels in H today. Love Chupacabra as well, and the pie place. Hit Aldi before heading back home again, by Eastern Market.

Good for you, sounds like a delightful day. But what does this have to do with EOTP schools that are great past K?

Considering that nothing else in this thread has to do with the reality of EOTP schools past K, I'm not seeing a problem with PP's post.

Same here. Which is why I get annoyed by the non DC people that overrun these boards.

SWS is an EOTP school that is excellent now all the way to 4th and next year I expect it will be excellent through 5th. It is a citywide school but it doesn't feel that way; most families bike or walk to school every day.

As to the comments about H St being useless for families: that's comically untrue. We would love to have more retail on H but the family friendly dining options are amazing.

The MS and high school options are expanding, for the language immersion DCPS. So this will affect the EOTP schools for the most part.

There are lots of family friendly dining options in Petworth and Columbia Heights now too. What's the point?

Did you not read the thread? There's someone on here claiming no one with kids would want to live near H Street cin pointing out that my neighborhood is crawling with kids.
