Also the show is expressly billed as the lead is an awesome everyday mom and the other moms are out of touch. Shes a rude asshole that is yes very socially adept, is that what the writers think of everyday "normal" moms? Insulting

I think you meant "socially inept", and yes, I completely agree. If I knew a woman like that at my child's school, who repeatedly acted so completely dumb, I would genuinely wonder if she had some sort of social disorder or maybe even a mental handicap. In any case, I would definitely AVOID which I guess makes me one of those "meanies" on the show who doesn't find it charming when someone constantly makes rude comments and shows up late to everything.

And the cherry on top of this goofy, self-deprecating, likeable everywoman - She goes to a funeral, interrupts a guest (speaker from before) and tries to bribe him, even though he asks her several times to leave him alone. Then she knocks over a bucket of golfballs having them spill all over the wake and her and her friend run off only making a half assed attempt to pick up some balls and no apology. And lest we forget this loveable line, "I heard Mother Theresa was a bitch."

Is it that they want us to laugh at what an horrible person she is? Is that what we are just "not getting"?

I know its a comedy, I love comedy. But this show is supposed to be "hahaha look at all the stuck up moms that are nothing like us" when this woman is herself is retched. Is bravo hoping viewers are identifying with her assholeish narcissistic behavior. Because yuck.

I might just have to hate watch this show to see how much more "likeable" she gets and if the "bad" moms ever actually do anything horrible. Not to mention she is so botoxed her face has two expressions, frozen and scrunched up. But her sisterinlaw is vapid and looks obsessed, right?

I'm one of the viewers who really liked the first episode, but I agree with you that Jill's behavior on the 2nd episode was really unlikeable. I was cringing at every rude thing she did, but you have to remember - it's a comedy! We're supposed to be finding it crass yet funny at the same time! I think the show isn't just a send-up of the stuck-up UES moms, but also of Jill herself - that she's clueless and fairly socially inept. It's just a comedy, people! Stop taking it so seriously.

It's not comedy - it's crap. And who takes shows like this seriously? Duh.
I just want to be able to chill for an hour or so and watch something light and junky. I want my hour back!

Seems like you and the others who are so incredibly offended and put off by this show are "taking it too seriously". If you didn't spend time posting on this thread about how very "crappy" you think this show is, you might actually have an hour back to chill.

Considering the write up in today's WaPo, I'm sure there are more than a few planted posts on this thread to dust up some buzz. This show is not controversial, it's not good or clever or funny. If this chick IRL wasn't as connected as she was, this show would die a quick death, without anyone even noticing.

I read that article and it just points out more of her hypocrisy on this subject. She grew up UES wealth/society, yet she tries to play this fish out of water every woman.

I just find it ironic that on DCUM if the stereotypical tables were turned it would be the most horrible thing in the history ever. And again, the original comment was to point out that hypocrisy, nothing with identifying with anyone on the show.

Watched this week's episode and I STILL don't like the main character. Usually shows get a little better after the first episode but this truly went down hill.

Examples please? I've seen just about every stereotype mocked here on DCUM and on TV. What exactly are you referring to?

One thing that resonated with me about this show (btw, haters: I'm not talking to you. Feel free to not respond.) is that Jill reminds me so much of a few people I know. One woman leaves her child at my house for playdates until she's done with her conference calls. Actually, we won't be doing playdates anymore due to her incredible self-absorption, so I should say she used to leave her child. She'd call right when she was supposed to be picking up her DD and say, "I'm so sorry, but I really need to finish this conference call. I'll pick Larla up in an hour or so, K?" Unbelievable.

Another woman would never RSVP to parties we invited her child to, but would then just show up and drop said child off anyway. So the cringe-worthy scenes with Jill hit home for me - funny, but oh-so-not-funny in real life!
