| I think it all depends on context. When it's a joke, it's funny, when said with hate, it's scary. |

Cracker = Georgia or Flordia native
Yankee= New England native Buckeye= Ohio native |
| Growing up in DC I mostly heard honkey. |
I didn't say one was more offensive than the other. I said I may be offended. It would mostly be based on context. |

This is what I always think of. |

Its a derogatory term used to refer to poor whites. Of course its offensive. I have no doubt Chris Rock can make it part of a funny bit (the same way he can make the n-word part of a funny bit), but it is still a rude and insulting thing to say.
Now of course, if its said as an affectionate joke between friends, it (as with the n-word among African-Americans) can be ok. But otherwise, no. |
Yeah, not cool OP. |

PP who mentioned someone yelled it at night reminded me-
In university I did get called "white bitch" by one person (female voice) in a group of first nations females while walking home late from work I was walking past an area near a reservation. I agree, at night, it was scary because you just don't know where a person is going to "go" with their anger. I just kept walking and hoped I looked like a hooker with my own problems and they'd ignore me after that, which they did. The irony- we just DNA tested and I found out we are part first nations and my grandmother was hiding it from us and won't talk about it. When I found that out I was like wow, man, I am YOU, don't yell at me!! |

I think I would laugh if someone called me a cracker. I also find it funny that people always think I'm white when I'm 3/4ths cuban. I was once called a raft nigger by a jerkface and I did indeed crack up. Just pissed this dude off more. You just have to let these things roll off you. I'd rather someone show their bigotry to my face then have it sneak up on me later on.
I don't get offended but I do get irrationally pissed off when someone uses bitch or slut or whore. Funny how that is huh? |
