Do white people get offended by the phrase "Cracker"?

Anonymous
As a black guy, I often here some in our community using the phrase cracker as sort of a slur against white folks. My question to you all is if you find the phrase offensive or even racist?
Anonymous
No. It's just a word.

No, we laugh. Might even ask if you mean Ritz or saltine.

I think we understand it as an insult but I don't think it has much power to offend.
Anonymous
No, don't care.

White privilege is a powerful shield and antidote.

Usually it's said in a joking way, so no. But if someone was saying it to put people down, yeah, I wouldn't think that was very cool.

Unfortunately, this. I know it is meant as an insult, but it often just comes across as funny.

If you are from the South- you would consider it an insult!

Nope

Of course it's offensive. It's disgusting. So is the phrase "white trash."

I think they're more likely to be insulted if it comes from a rich white person, not a black person.

I think it's a joke. An attempt to be derogatory, but doesn't quite hit the mark.

+1. I get that you are trying to be insulting when you say cracker, but the word itself sounds silly as an insult.

I agree. All I think of is Chris Rock using it in his routine!
