Student faces expulsion from school due to her natural hair

Even wearing her hair naturally, it doens't need to be so freaking big. Kids behind her wouldn't be able to see the board, and can't imagine what would happen if they moved her to back row.

What in the hell are you talking about. It is her besutiful god given hair. How in the hell should be judging it? She should be afforded the freedom to wear it anyway she chooses. It isnt like she died it green! Get a grip. She is wesring it that way on purpose cause it's pretty. Shame on you.

You are foolish.

No, stating a fact. Her hair is very large and it would block other children from seeing the board or teacher. What is foolish about facts. I grow up in the 80's and some girls would sit in the back of the class because they had huge, teased, hairsprayed hair because those behind couldn't see the chalkboard.

How do you know the kids sit in rows?

And if the problem were that for some reason the classroom is arranged so that it is not possible to see around her hair (which, for heaven's sake, is not exactly the size of Nebraska), presumably the school would try to address that problem, rather than say that her hair is "distracting". Her hair is distracting only for people who find natural hair transgressive.

LOL. Clearly, you did not go to school in the 80s.

Yes, I did, see post 12:38.

Her hair is easily twice the size of her head and there are videos of her styling it to make it larger. I wouldn't be surprised if the teasing started off with, "I don't want to sit behind or next to her because her hair all over the place/in the way." and then it just went on from there.

I cannot fathom her facing expulsion for this. Her hair is natural. Maybe she is styling it, to make it bigger, but its not like she is dieing it bright pink or wearing large hats.

To say she HAS to braid it or straighten it is offensive.

I think the girl would be happier being away from the Jesus freaks. They say they love "all" but only if you are not gay and have silky hair.

There is nothing dreadful about natural locks.

She has been watching too much Abby Lee Ultimate Dance --a girl had the same hair. Always going on and on about how her hair made her a "star"

She's so pretty. She should get out of that awful school environment.
