I agree with the school in this case that her hair is a distraction.

Are turbans a distraction for you too? Idiot.

How is HAIR a distraction?? If your kid is distracted by someone else's hair for crying out loud, you got bigger problems.
I think her hair is quite beautiful.

I didn't listen to the story but if she looks the way she looks in the first shot I don't see a problem with her hair. School is being ridiculous.

I agree that it's distracting. She started wearing her hair this way recently at the beginning of the school year which is drawing negative attention. Shes been enrolled at this school since 3rd grade and managed to not wear her hair this way before. Shes doing it for attention.

There are so many ways to dress Afro-textured hair.

It's not an either-or situation.

Sounds like administration at that school is on a serious power trip.

Many kids change their hairstyle when they get to middle school, and they do it because they want people to see them as pretty or handsome or grown up. In other words, they do it for attention.

If a white child is allowed to wear their long hair down, then she should be too.

According to the story other kids are making comments about her hair and so her parents complained to the school that Shes being bullied. It does not seem like the hair itself is the distraction but the disruptions and fallout that is occurring due to her choice in hairstyle.

It sounds like the disruptions and fallout are due to the bullies.

I don't agree, unless it's opposite day.

This is ridiculous, clearly racist and makes me sick to my stomach. @todayshow, everyone take social media action to draw attention.

Thanks OP.

And the source of all the commotion is the hair. The student hand book stipulates that the hairstyles of students should not cause distractions. The rules were already outlined in the handbook before she started wearing her hair in this style.

OP did you take your DNA test yet?

That hair is fine. The only thing religious about this is that it's a sign from God to go to another school.
