Sorry but she pretty much looks like half of catholic school girls in New Jersey in the late 80's.

And the flower. Unnecessary.

I went to catholic school and they're extremely picky. They knew that going in.

I was not allowed to wear my hair down either and I complied.

OMG of course you can see the screen. And you put the red in redneck.

I'm not white you asshat.

OP did you take your DNA test yet?

OP here. I have indeed. Have you taken yours? My mom is African American and my dad is Italian and per the DNA test we have Native American in our lineage as well. I don't see what my ancestry has to do with me being in agreement with the school though that her hair is a distraction though.

See pp 20.22. And congrats on your good hair.

Op here. My hair actually looks very similar to girl's hair. I too went to a private Christian school where we had dress code rules including rules about how our hair could be styled. I complied. I read the student handbook and code of conduct and knew what was expected of me. I still got questions about my hair... "why do you put grease in your hair?" "Why do you wash it only once a week? However I didnt feel the need to break the dress code rules thereby drawing negative attention to myself. The rules indicated that my hair needed to be pulled back so thats what I did.

It's a private school. I got not problem with that. Don't private schools also tell students how to dress?

This is NOT a Catholic School BTW.

I had to check to see if it was an Onion article.

I like the girl's hair. She looks cute.

According to the story other kids are making comments about her hair and so her parents complained to the school that Shes being bullied. It does not seem like the hair itself is the distraction but the disruptions and fallout that is occurring due to her choice in hairstyle.

It sounds like the disruptions and fallout are due to the bullies.
Bullies win again. There is nothing wrong with her hair. It's beautiful. I wonder would they have demanded Jesus cut his hair because no one else was wearing it long?

Cute little girl. Her hair is fine. The school is being ridiculous.

First off, she is adorable and well spoken. Second, the problem is the administrators that are putting up with the kids who are bullies. This is a Christian school? Whatever happened to "love thy neighbor" and "do unto others?"

Would we take the same tack, if say, the kids were bullying a child because s/he was perceived to be gay? Would we say the problem is the victim and not the perpetrators? Puhleeeez!

I think if she is made to cut her hair, so should all the little white girls at the school!

Her hair is a god-awful mess.

Would you prefer she put chemicals in her hair to straighten it?

That is some nasty looking hair.

Just put her in public school where she can do what she wants with her hair. Done. I don't get the uproar when people decide rules don't apply to them. If you don't like the rules, go elsewhere where there are different rules. They CHOSE this school; it's not required. They just wanted the publicity.

Maybe they liked the school, other than its stupid rule about hair?

Agree. I thought her hair looks nice. Even if it didn't look nice she should be able to wear it how she wants to. I have naturally curly hair (I'm white), and I would be shocked if people came to me and said that I couldn't wear it the way it is. Every woman knows it takes A LOT of work to change your hair from the way it naturally is.
