Immersion Programs

ALL OF IT! Crazy poster seems to think that Bethune's Spanish immersion doesn't continue past 2nd grade because BLACK teachers would get fired, then gets mad when someone calls her racist. First of all, race has nothing to do with a school's curriculum. Second, she is the one who pulled the race card in the first place!!!! ("Can't fire me b/c I'm black!!!). What moron. Just a troll with nothing to contribute.

Let's get back to discussing Bethune. What were their scores?

I don't want black teachers to lose their jobs. This isn't happening right?

Can you post the test scores?

And we're fighting over Bethune because....

Because these scores have nothing to do with PS-3, PS-4 or K. When Bethune's current PS-3 students are the ones taking the CAS tests, it will be a different story.

^^ Why, because there's more snowflakes in those grades? The racism on here is getting ridiculous.

Oh God. Yet another claim of racism!

Heaven forbid that the better test scores that are expected be related to improvements made in the early education program over the last few years that are taking shape now, and that will track with current students as they move to higher grades. Learning has nothing to do with your skin color, my friend. It has everything to do with how children are taught.

What is ridiculous is people always assuming that race is the root of everything!!!!

I'm new to this board and I'm picking up on the same thing

"high SES" seems to be the code word ... like all "poor" or middle class black parents just pop out non-learning space eaters and the decks WILL be scrubbed eventually

I'm a "high SES" black parent VERY low SES origins, btw .. so maybe the poster is talking about MY child. This is all so confusing

With DC's history... and the history of this country... its helpful to at least acknowledge that it can be reasonable for someone to suspect racism, and calmly and lucidly refute that suspicion when youre position is strong and logical. Then it becomes an educational experience for all
