Yes, win win for all

Oh, shut it. Bethune teaching staff is very, very diverse, much more so than the student body. Lots of native Spanish speakers. I believe they switch to Spanish classes versus immersion because those kids are in the testing years. Sad, but not unusual for DC to have the test become the focus. |
| ^^ So, you're saying that if the school opted to follow a dual language model (50-50), which is the standard at most bilingual schools, they would be able to keep the same teachers? So their minority instructors also speak Spanish, so there would be a seamlesss transition? This doesn't pass the smell test. Sorry. |
No, I'm saying that they're not choosing only black teachers, and they're not tailoring their curriculum to please the teachers. Duh. |
Because, like, everyone knows you can't possibly be both Black and speak Spanish!
|
| ^^ Just like we said, your bullshit doesn't pass the smell test. Duh! Bethune's model of a spanish class starting in 3rd or whatever is not supported in the research about bilingual ed. If they opted to switch to the dual language 50/50 model, they would have no need for many of their English language teachers and a higher need for Spanish speakers. The English only folks would be canned. That's common sense. Many of the English folks are African American. For a school serving mainly African Americans and in an environment where we're seeing less and less AAs, there would be a firestorm if black teachers got canned in favor of Spanish speakers. DUH! |
Start naming these black hispanohablantes at Bethune.... Waiting... Like we thought- LIARS!!!
|
Please stop posting as if you have any knowledge about the school whatsoever. You are obviously posting directly from your ass. |
Meaning, why not keep immersion model from PS3-8. |
There are black spanish-speakers. Or do you mean AA teachers? |
| Do any DC school have 50/50 model. Even the well established DCPS dual language schools don't. |
|
I have to say, Bethune...you have obviously made it to the big leagues of charter schools! Congrats. You know you are a "good school" now if DCUM is bashing you.
Congrats to those who are attending Bethune! |
No. You're so much of a pro at, I'll leave that to you. Thank goodness I'm at a top charter. With idiots like you at Bethune, so glad I'm not there. Too bad for the kids, though! |
Oyster is 50/50 two-way. That's the only DCPS dual language worth discussing. The others are by default. They're improving but their numbers are abominable right now. |
| Can Bethune switch a 50/50 model and retain black teachers or not. This is really a simple debate to squash. Either they can or can't. Also, why haven't they already changed with all of these spanish-speakers coming out of the wood work there. |
