How much do you weigh & What size do you wear? Vanity Sizing?

I have friends who are 3 inches taller, 10 pounds less and we still wear the same size clothes.

+1. Still a size 12 or 14? Thanks manufactures for making me feel better!

5'4" and 105 pounds. I am a runner and in pretty good shape, but I've also had several kids and am in my late 40s. So I look like a middle-aged woman in pretty good shape but with a bit of extra padding around the hips and thighs. I am not unusually tiny. In vintage clothes, I am a solid size 4.

Now, however, I have a very hard time finding clothes in my size. Ann Taylor Loft for instance, makes a 00 petite that is easily 1 inch too big at the waist for me. You'd think I could use a tailor, but the hips are too big most of the time, also, and that's too much tailoring for my budget. These days I scour websites for girls' clothing that can pass as semi-professional. (Fortunately, I can dress informally for work.)

I'm 5'2 and 123 pounds. I wear a 34 DD bra and am usually a 6P or medium petite in most clothes, but some of my size 4s fit (with no squeezing!). In vintage clothes, I'm guessing I'd be an 8 or even a 10, depending on the era.

I weight 10 lbs more than you but encountered the same problem. I rarely buy US sizes anymore and buy mostly European brands. Clothes are more expensive but it's nice to have items that fit off of the rack. Also, the quality tends to be higher so I can get a lot of wear out of clothes.

Who cares about "vanity" sizing--it's all just arbitrary anyway. You may as well wear size 'A, B, C' or "yellow, red and blue.'

I think this is just a bunch of carping from thin women who want to make heavier women feel shittier than about themselves than they already do. I seriously doubt that fit, average height women are having a hard time finding stylish clothing that fits them well. Most overweight women find shopping a misery.

Also, some of the PPs don't seem to realize that being short does not mean you wear a smaller size. Being short means you wear petite sizes, which are cut for shorter women (generally 5'4" and under). Pant lengths are shorter, arm holes are cut higher, pockets and trim are placed in proportion to the shorter torso. Petite sizes are often a size smaller, so a size 8 regular is a size 6 petite, but not always.

I am 5'6", used to wear size 6 at 130 pounds, 2 kids later and 150 pounds I am wearing a size 12 to be comfortable. Lots of fat around the middle, my tummy bagel is more of a bundt cake right now.

Was 145 before getting pregnant and also wore a 10
Was 130 a few years ago and wore a 4 but looked like skelator.

LOL PP! Nice He-Man reference, you made me laugh

5'5" and usually around a 4, but lately, I think vanity sizing is out of control, as I am now a 2 or an XS in most tops. I also hate how tops are sooo baggy now.

I haven't found this at all - I am in between petite and regular, and while I'm a 6/8 regular, I'm a 10 petite.

And I find shopping annoying, although I'm "regular sized", while my plus-sized friend is always shopping for new clothes and ordering stuff online that fits her well.

At any rate, vanity sizing makes it really difficult to order clothes online unless you know the brand, because if I'm anywhere from a 6 to a 10, it's really impossible to tell what will actually fit.

I'm 5'2 and 128lbs and a 34DD. My size 4s are getting loose again and I can't fit any 6s (too big). Seems like we should be reversed as far as sizing!

Agree BR is the worst. I'm 5'7" and 122 lbs and I swim in some of their size 2 clothes.

Huh. I can't fit into any BR clothes. I'm the 5'6" 163 pound poster above. Classic pear shape. I am way too big for their cuts.

That's strange sizing then! I am 220, 5'7 and can wear some L/XL shirts and just wore a XL dress to a wedding this weekend.

These shirts and XL dress are from Banana Republic?

Yes- I'm the [gulp] ~220 lb. pp. Haven't weighed myself in a few months, but I know it's more or less accurate. I'm pretty active and was a varsity athlete and have a lot of muscle.

I'm sure most of their pieces wouldn't fit me, but I find a few that do and I love them!
