How much do you weigh & What size do you wear? Vanity Sizing?

Anonymous
5"2", 140 lbs (athletic build). Size 4-6.

Up until 10 years ago, I was 105-110 lbs - size 2, sometimes 4. Back then, I had a lot of my mom's vintage clothing - they were size 8 and snug.

There is vanity sizing going on!

There is also a difference between junior sizing and misses sizing.

All of you who are saying you are wearing the same size as you did in high school, even though you clearly see yourself as bigger/heavier/flabbier, go to a place like Abercrombie that sell junior sizing and see if you are still fitting in a size 2. You won't be able to, even if you are wearing smaller sizes in Ann Taylor.

Junior sizing runs smaller and is proportioned differently than misses sizes.

I say this as a dressmaker.

(look at page 4 where it gives an explaination.) https://kelley.iu.edu/alumni/secure/apparel/2009Size_Chart.pdf

5'4 -130 pretty much a size 4 in everything (probably not H&M). I have some skirts from JCrew that are size 2 and a few pairs of slim fitting pants that are size 6. I have smallish hips and waist but heavier legs.

Agree BR is the worst. I'm 5'7" and 122 lbs and I swim in some of their size 2 clothes.

H&M uses junior sizing in the lower sizes, not misses. That is why you can't fit in a size 2 in that line.

5'7, 220 and size 18, depending. some work blouses from banana republic/calvin klein are L though, surprisingly (some will work, some won't with L). i've put on some weight recently.

when i was 180, 12-14. muscular/athletic build.

5'5", 127, mostly a 4, sometimes a 2. I buy some jeans in a 6 but they're big in the waist/butt, just not so skintight in the thighs (which have muscle, not fat).

Everything's tight in the arms though. Don't women have biceps anymore? It's ridiculous.

Huh. I can't fit into any BR clothes. I'm the 5'6" 163 pound poster above. Classic pear shape. I am way too big for their cuts.

That's my height and weight, but I don't know my current size since I (sadly) haven't bought new clothes in about 5 years. Except for jeans (size 26 or 27).

I'm about 5'6'' and 120 lbs and pretty small framed/small on top. I wear a 0 or a 2. I've found myself needing 4s in really skinny and rigid pants, but those don't look good on me anyway. I wear a 26 in jeans pretty reliably.

In a past life I was about 145 or 150, and then wore an 8 or 10 (10+ years ago).

I'm 5'8" and 120 lbs. Size is totally dependent on the brand. At Ann Taylor, 0 bottoms and 2 tops are too big. I'm usually a 2 at Banana Republic and J.Crew. In higher end or European brands (Theory, Burberry), I'm usually a 6, sometimes an 8. I'm a 26 in most jeans.

I'm glad people are including the brands - there can be so much variation!

I haven't bought any nice clothes recently - hard to spend the money on baby weight - but I just had a little shopping spree so I'd have something to wear now...

pear shape
normally small on top, but have giant nursing boobs at the moment

5'3"
175 lbs (ack!)
size 16-18 pants from Old Navy, Gap, and LL Bean
size 14-16 tops from same

I think I wore a 6-8 when I was 120 lbs back in HS (15 years ago)

This. I'm 2 inches shorter than you and I had to squeeze into my size 12 designer dress (with some help from Spanx) when I weighed 145 lbs. I'm now 130 lbs and I wear a US equivalent of size 8. I'm shocked some women can wear size 12 at 175 lbs.

5'4" and 118-120 lbs...for bottoms sz 2 mostly ( like milly/ jcrew /true religion etc)...for tops i am always xs or sz 0 as i have narrow shoulders and 32D bust....i think the narrow shoulders give people the illusion that i am smaller than i really am.. ..the other day at anthro i tried a very pretty top in xs and it fit beautifully in the bust and waist area but it was falling off my shoulders...

as some PPs suggested BR sizing is ridiculous....I swim around in their 0 n XS tops/shirts....

5'4" 117, although after this weekend, I probably weight closer to 120. Anyway, I am usually a 2 or a 4 in vanity sizing. I am a solid size 8 at H+M.
