Horrifying day as a parent

Yes, and many other threads have proved that you wouldn't pick up UNLESS it was a call from your husband. If you saw the neighbor's name on caller ID, you'd ignore it. Seems perfectly normal (to a DCUM mind, that is).

I'm not even as horrified by the notion of making up a child with an injury as I am by the idea that somebody would have the time and/or inclination to think to themselves, Hey, I think I'll post a fake story on DCUM and then respond to it myself as well! I know this phrase is overused but that is the definition of someone who really needs to get a life.

To the PP who first called fake - great work! I agreed with your original posts, so I guess I'm a bitch too. But I never guessed this was a fake. I'm sorry you got some flack on this thread, I'm all for being supportive but there can be a knee-jerk DCUM impulse to tar-and-feather anyone who inserts a dose of realism into any conversation.

Ah well. On to football. Have a great day DCUMers.

Monkey bars are a total disaster in this regard. A child I know who's always been incredibly athletic broke her arm from a seemingly nothing fall from the monkey bars on wood chips right in front of my eyes when she was 5. And she was a tall 5-year old to begin with.

Sure, but the kid would break the part of the body she landed on. Land on head, that's a head injury. Use arm to break fall? That's an arm injury. But it seems unlikely the kid landed on head, arm and leg!

PP again -- sometimes I envision two guys (or maybe a college fraternity) placing bets -- write a fake post on dcurbanmom and see whose thread goes the longest.

if college boys actually know about this site, I feel bad for their social lives

Sorry, that's possible. A child who curls into the fetal position and is going face down, could easily on face, arm and leg at the same time. It's happened before and will happen again. As for the surface being soft, that also only minimizes damages. A child can still be hurt landing on that surface. It's less likely, but if pushed, it can happen.

If it was a troll, I am very glad that this didn't happen to a child, but it is possible, however unlikely.

Huh. YA THINK?

I thought it was an awful big coincidence that OP posted and then in the next 30 min. her neighbor happens to be online, reading DCUM, and reading the thread that OP posted, and OP husband calls the neighbor. Then instead of rushing over to help OP, the neighbor posts on this thread.
It also didn't make sense that the girl is bleeding from a head injury and perhaps a neck injury and the OP put the girl and the twins in the car
My best friend always teases me for being skeptical and I always tease her for being gullible. I wish I weren't such a skeptical person because i would like to see the good in people but then threads like this push me back firmly into the skeptical camp.

And I know it could happen, or maybe it has, but what are the odds that someone would spot their neighbor out on here? I was also the one who said it was creepy that the neighbor was on the laptop, posting from her computer. I was also the one who said why would she be on DCUM when her child was in the hospital. I already know I am a bitch, but only when someone deserves it. Fake post... it was needed.

It has. A post of mine has been spotted on here by a friend who knew the issue I was raising ... but this did not happen instantly after that person was called by my husband because I wasn't answering my phone.

PP Again ... I know this turned out to be a hoax and the OP needs some counseling from my perspective, BUT, a number of you also need to look at yourselves .... the judging of a situation where you didn't know all the facts, the name calling. If you haven't read the link that someone posted about how people do legitimately reach out using various social media avenues, please do so. If this had happened to me, and I had posted here and came back hoping for a little support (now, trust me, I read DCUM, so I would be expecting firebombing and wouldn't post re: something like this) I would not only have the accident and my guilt to contend with, but the backhanding of strangers to boot.

Shouldn't this be deleted? I mean really. It's demeaning to everyone involved, people who took the time to reply in honest and sincere ways, and to anyone who experienced an injury with their child. I swear, I just don't understand where the "I'm going to delete off topic religious posts" and then this is allowed to stand? WTH Jeff?

This is allowed to stand so that everyone who participated in it and may be concerned about the OP's injured daughter can see that their concern is no longer needed. Would you prefer a bunch of threads asking what happened to this one?

Who is to say that the majority of the post on this forum is not fake? I am quite sure that most are not real. No one should be taking this post so personally. And no, I am not the OP that made this post. I am the bitch that called it fake.

I say, look at the bigger picture. All the people that called the so called child that pushed the child, "evil," is just wrong. I am not hurt by the post, but I am hurt by anyone calling a child evil. Come on adults... children should not be labeled in negative ways.
