Horrifying day as a parent

Anonymous
As a parent, I can't imagine making up an accident where my child is seriously injured just to get attention for myself even on an anon board. Pretty sick.

Great detective work. Gold star for the day.

Now that I'm thinking about it more, I was pretty surprised by the child's injuries when I first read this. A head injury, a broken ankle, AND a broken arm, all from one fall? On a playground, where the surface is soft? I was really shocked by that.

Ah well. On to football. Have a great day DCUMers.

i'm sorry there is something super wrong with this entire thread. the neighbor's involvement, demonizing this "other child" noone knows a damn thing about, and just the whole thing.

Are you new here? The OP posted in a state of angst and fear. Probably the impetus for most posts when parents are scared and need to reach out. She mistakenly identified a family member, but I can't seem much harm of that.

And many posters have rejected the idea that any child should be "demonized." Consensus is, accidents happen, and we are just here to support one another when they do.

Sure, yeah, say that next time you get rear-ended to the person whose car hit you. I guess Americans care a lot more about their cars than about their children.

Monkey bars are a total disaster in this regard. A child I know who's always been incredibly athletic broke her arm from a seemingly nothing fall from the monkey bars on wood chips right in front of my eyes when she was 5. And she was a tall 5-year old to begin with.

I would so like an explanation for the "OP" for this lovely work of fiction. We are waiting. You had oh so much to say before...

Holy cow! What kind of an atrocious person do you have to be to make something like this up??? Whoever you are OP, get help.

Thanks to the DCUM'ers who spotted the fake.

I am the poster that suggested it was fake. I guess I was considered a bitch on this board because I also said why would a 3 year old be on the monkey bars. It made no sense to me. And I know it could happen, or maybe it has, but what are the odds that someone would spot their neighbor out on here? I was also the one who said it was creepy that the neighbor was on the laptop, posting from her computer. I was also the one who said why would she be on DCUM when her child was in the hospital. I already know I am a bitch, but only when someone deserves it. Fake post... it was needed.

If the OP is able to identify the child who did this, it is not necessary to involve the legal system, but it would benefit the child to see the consequences of impulsive behavior and be given a chance to apologize and feel empathy.

My nephew shows no capacity for empathy, and has never apologized for anything. It's frightening.

Your nephew has an illness, geez. Give the child a break.

Yeah, the kind of illness that might make him a serial murderer. No breaks for someone like this.

Damn that really had me going, but I was just in disbelief that the OP had a neighbor over, and still didn't go to the hospital to be with her little girl. That did seem really odd to me. Oh well, don't get fooled again I guess.

Any guesses as to what OP's deal is? Any chance it's just a college psych major working on a class project?

Does OP really need a motive? Some people just get a kick out of drama. I know I do. I would not go as far as saying my child has a head injury though.

Also, it was strange that "op was not picking up cell." If your daughter was in the hospital, wouldn't you be glued to your cell for constant updates/calls from your husband?
Anonymous
Yeah, I enjoy some of the overwrought posts on this site but I can't really imagine a parent using a seriously injured child as fodder.

Maybe the OP does not have any children?

But still - beware the monkey bars. Seeing injuries all the time - that part was not too crazy... it could happen.
Glad the 'evil' boy does not exist though!
