Does your principla do this (or other things you know)?

Also, the principle's mother hired as the administrative assistant? Did people mention this on the listserv?

Principal - sorry forgot "pricipal is your pal."

Oh, just stop. Nobody wants you to be constructive on this thread, it's just for hating. Go on and take your suggestions where they'll be valued, leave us to our knives.

And . . . we now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

This is super scary. I am in shock. Is this really how many parents think and operate around here? No wonder there is a culture of fear at this school. If there is a good number of parents who think like this a) I don't care about anybody's test scores but my kid's. And b) don't dare mess with me because I will sue you into oblivion...talk about a bully, then all is lost at this place. How toxic. That attitude must permeate everything and evertone. Sad and scary.

Well, remain in shock. What are your school's CAS scores and what are you doing for those who failed to make proficient. Do you tutor those children. Are you giving extra monies for their enrichment classes. Please tell Miss Sad and Scary, what exactly are your contributions in bringing up the CAS scores for those children who failed at Your DC's school.

I am the pp and you chose the wrong person to get sassy with. YES to all of the above and the cas scores at the school are rising for all subgroups. In fact a large number of parents at my kids school could answer yes to those questions. Maybe that's why it is a pleasant place to be and having some success.

Sassy, whew. Lawdy, lawdy. Now that makes at least two of us. And with all my time and money to uplift and help other's children, my primary concern is my child. You can put your child second if you please. BTW, with your judgmental bitchy attitude and feigned shock of surprise, I doubt very serious it is a pleasant atmosphere when you are around.

YY's E.D. came out with a self-contratulatory note boosting the scores which BTW are quite embarrasing. "We're thrilled with... the results" so she wrote.

right from the Kaya Henderson playbook. She "Celebrated" the DC-Cas results at the public meeting in July -- before the disappointing detailed results were available to the public

So what is YY's listserv used for? Coordinating whether one should bake brownies or cookies for bake sales? Seriously, not one mention by a parent about a school's eagerly anticipated first scores on a school's listserv speaks volumes about YY's administration and not about the parents' manners. Looks like the parents at YY are too intimidated to say anything constructive or offer any opinions that could be inferred as a criticism however slight.

No one even mentioned the dual track where the kids who can't keep up will only get 3 hrs of Chinese per wk in later grades. I had to learn about it on DCUM.

Who are you. Are you even on the list serve or are you spewing your nonsense for a particular reason. I know you could not be a YY parent because your post is basically an outright lie. Yes, you are lying. How could you have possibly heard about these changes for the first time on DCUM The YY list serve was full of chatter and there were multiple meetings and school discussions regarding these changes. So again, who are you and what exactly is your agenda.

You probably guessed the answer: a big NO. How dare anyone challenge THAT? It's the principal's mother so no one should say anything. It took parents a long time to figure out she is the mother. One YY parent on this thread only realized this after reading the message.

This thread is much more interesting when we were discussing chinese food pronunciation.

Pp here. Shock is not feigned. I truly assume the best of people and it is shocking to see how far people have strayed from.the idea of community. Does not bode well.
Anonymous
People should be truly shocked by the principal's mother taking the place of a popular receptionist.
Anonymous
Where's the idea of community here? Instead of admitting the guilt, the YY defenders came to say it's okay (to hire her to replace the receptionist) because she is not in charge of money, etc. Where have we come to? Do we kow tow to the principal because we have to suck up? Where is the principle in all of us? Where is the backbone in the YY parents?

Who are YOU? You sound as if the principal, the E.D. or one of their minions lurking, oops did I say lurking, I meant monitoring on this and other boards. I am a YY parent but not the one you are accusing a liar. You also sounded so angry and righteous. Dont know who s/he is or what his/her agenda. But get your record straight before you accuse people!

The only mentions on the YY listserv were there'd be meetings and discussions about the differentiated Chinese curriculum (DCCM). The specific changes including reduced Chinese learning @ 3 hours per week, etc never made it to the listserv. No wonder the YY parent found out on DCUM. So did many others. You should do a check before you made your accusation. I have never seen anything on the YY listserv about the specifics either. What if the parent never attended any of the meetings?

for chrissakes people, we are better than this. rooting against a fledgling public school that is trying to educate children with a bilingual model? this is what we are railing against?

honestly, and i am not usually this person, but i am starting to wonder if this isn't veiled racism/nationalism against all things chinese.

W is not the smartest -- we agree. I am no fan either. But neither Gore or Kerry got the presidency and they're supposed to be smarter and considered to be intellectuals. Just saying.

The majority of us on this listserv don't give a *(&(&* about YY or its random policies. It may be best to carry this conversation to your actual listserv where you can have a more authentic conversation with all of the stakeholders and make some change. This is not the venue for everything to become all about YY ALL OF THE TIME.
