Yet USNWR 2026 Top Engineering Programs

17. Northwestern
21. Columbia (tie)
21. Penn (tie)

yikes

Engineering rankings are not based on research output, faculty quality, rigor of the undergrad classes or quality of phD the students get admitted to, or the reputation by TOP engineering companies. In other words, the real factors that determine the quality of a program

Not at all true. Peer school is determined by peer group.
Williams (and Amherst) peer group from pre-Test optional shows 25th%ile-75%ile 1420-1540, or estimated median around 1480. That is lower than Vanderbilt was (1470-1570) though with their TO preference currently they may never get back to the strong peer group they once were.

Ivies:
25-75th%ile

Harvard 1460-1580
Penn. 1460-1570
Yale. 1470-1560
Princetn 1460-1560

Brown 1440-1560
Dartm 1430-1550
Cornell 1410-1530
Columbia: never released it pre-TO. They knew they were lower than most ivies, maybe the lowest.
Chicago: TO for a long time, who knows where they stand but likely on par with lower ivies.

Duke 1480-1560 on par with the top-4 ivies
Hopkins 1470-1550 middle of the ivies
NorthW 1430-1540 on par with bottom 2 ivies

WashU. 1480-1560 on par with ivies
CMU: 1460-1560 ""
Rice: 1460-1570 ""

ND 1400-1540
GrgTwn 1380-1530

In other words Williams has a peer group better than Cornell., similar to Dartmouth and could be better than Columbia.
Below many in the Top15-20, no way Top 10.

Where is this crap coming from? All the numbers are wrong! Hopkins has a 75 percentile of 1570, for example.

Is that from 2026 because they only became test required this cycle. Otherwise, that's not an accurate depiction of their 75 percentile.

According to Gemini, in 2019 before JHU went TO due to Covid, its middle 50% SAT score range for admitted students at Johns Hopkins University was 1460 to 1570. So PP was right.

PP explicitly stated that the numbers were "pre-Test optional." Please read before respond.

+1, no one cares about American schools other than Harvard. H bomb just hits harder than other schools and that’s fine- does it mean Harvard is the best school in the US? Of course not. It just means it has the most cultural cache

So they are less relevant because the numbers are old. Show me the medians when 2026 and later are reported with just test required.

If you’re taking about Candice’s, Northwestern is weaker than some T10-20 like Rice or CMU. Penn has the best academics for engineering, business and premed
