Which of the next 5 Penn, Chicago, Northwestern, Columbia, and Duke is most prestigious in your community (bonus if you specify where you’re from like west coast, south, east, DMV etc.). Ok if you want to throw in Johns Hopkins or Caltech.
Not looking for a lecture on fit or prestige. People can be curious about different things. |
| Northwestern mom would say Northwestern. Chicago haters would mention ED0/1/2 and get into a fight with Chicago defenders. Ivy lovers would say Penn and Columbia coz Ivy! Hardcore STEM junkies would say Caltech. And no one would say JHU. Yes, my child goes to JHU and I'm ok with that. |
Great thread

| They’re all great schools that are somewhat fungible in terms of prestige generally, but vary a bit depending on what you actually want to study/do. |
| I'm begging DCUM to please please please not play along with OP. |
| No one really cares outside of the weirdos on this board. If they do, they are self aware enough not to let on. |
| I really despise these type of posts. In reality a tiny percentage will have the option of one of these schools and won’t have a choice. Parsing out which is most prestigious where really is irrelevant. |
I agree. Let’s play a new game. Any ideas? |
| Williams |
| Can we please please do T11 to T15 next? |
| Pathetic question. |
| There is no answer to that question. |

At T20s prestige is kind of a dumb question because different majors/schools are better suited to advance (provide prestige) than others depending on what someone is studying or aims to go into.
Once you're aiming for T20s you should be looking at fit and programs. If you're motivated by prestige only, that's not a great sign that you actually care about the things that matter. All T20s are prestigious. |
Agree, Penn |
