Pupil place your kid, then. They are setting Skyview up to have hundreds of extra seats available for pupil placements. |
You still have time. Get a group of like-minded people together and publicly advocate on Saturday. |

The route 28 thing is ridiculous. They are grasping at straws. Was that the Cub Run people? They cross route 28 for ES.
Walney Oaks not being moved is ridiculous. |
Pupil placing away from your friends and neighbors just for the AP program is a big ask. You didn’t have a problem expecting the kids at SLHS that didn’t want IB to have to pupil place out every year. Every county around us has IB as an opt in program that kids apply to, that is how FCPS should run it. If you want IB, you opt in and attend a school with other kids who want IB. It is a niche program. It is a very structured program that most people in the country are not interested in. Why is it fair to force the kids at the IB schools to participate a program that most would not chose? Heck, that most don’t choose because hardly anyone completes the IB Diploma. |
| I suspect that most who opted in to Skyview are Fox Mill. Likely because they want AP in a close school. Meren likely realizes that now. She should have stepped in earlier on this, but she is likely an IB proponent. |
I suspect most floris slhs kids did that too. It's a great chance for them to stay with the other half of floris kids in high school. |
She knows. She just doesn't like the answer. |
I got my tiny little violin out to play for the lady who is super upset that her kids are going to a school in the exact pyramid she chose when she moved to her house. |
| So let me get this straight. Skyview was purchased to relieve capacity at Chantilly and Centreville and to reduce travel time for far flung Oakton students. Yet the leading scenario guts Westfield and South Lakes while leaving Chantilly, Centreville, and Oakton boundaries mostly untouched, save for the poor kids who are easier to shuffle around without a fight. |
| So far we have McDaniel and Dixit whose neighborhoods are personally benefiting from the proposed changes. I’m sure there are others. McDaniel should’ve lost his position over embezzling money anyway, but hopefully this is the nail in his political coffin. |
McDaniel lives in the Crossfield boundary but wanted that es to change to Skyview. |
Agree! When it was bought multiple school board members and FCPS specifically claimed one of the main purposes was to reduce overcrowing and long commutes from Herndon to Oakton! And now they aren't moving anyone out of Oakton whatosever! It moves 1000 kids out of Westfield--which wasn't overcrowded--and only one group of poor kids out from Centreville. They could have moved smaller numbers to Skyview out of Oakton, Westfield and Chantilly and that wouldn't have decimated Westfield. It makes no sense. FCPS has completely lost the plot. |
| Kyle and Seema need to recuse themselves from being involved or voting. |
| What did Dixit do? I think I missed a plot twist. |
No kids north of 50 belong at Westfield. They never should have been there. It is geographically and socially isolated from the other Westfield neighborhoods. |
