So, will rising 7th graders from crossfield have to go to Carson for a year and then move to Franklin for 8th grade?
Do boundary changes start in 27-28? And are older kids all grandfathered in to their high schools? Will South Lakes families who want to participate in the IB program get to stay there? Some of our neighbors specifically moved to this neighborhood because of South Lakes. I know they're in the minority, but they're pretty disappointed.
They should be able to pupil place there with no problem.
Pupil placing away from all your friends and neighbors just for the IB program is a big ask.
Pupil placing away from your friends and neighbors just for the AP program is a big ask. You didn’t have a problem expecting the kids at SLHS that didn’t want IB to have to pupil place out every year. Every county around us has IB as an opt in program that kids apply to, that is how FCPS should run it. If you want IB, you opt in and attend a school with other kids who want IB. It is a niche program. It is a very structured program that most people in the country are not interested in. Why is it fair to force the kids at the IB schools to participate a program that most would not chose? Heck, that most don’t choose because hardly anyone completes the IB Diploma.
