Who is going to be next presidential candidate for democrats?

This sentiment is not shared by most of the voting population given the results of 2016 and 2024.

Clinton, Harris, and Whitmer are all weak candidates for various reasons. But not because they are women. They just didn't click. Meanwhile, a black man with the middle name Hussein was a very successful two term president. And would easily win today if he could run again. Americans are perfectly capable of voting for candidates that don't fit the white man box. But the candidates have to be good and have some charisma and generate excitement.

And we still are not seeing someone emerge. Newsom is a shapeshifter with a sleazy history and is way too obsessed with social media. I have met frogs with more charisma than Mark Kelly. Kamala Harris couldn't even make it to the Iowa caucus when she ran for president. Pritzker is an inherited billionaire and do we really another one? People's views on the billionaire class and Israel have changed 180 degrees over the past couple of years, both among liberals and conservatives. This is going to be a tough election cycle for Jews, including Shapiro. Buttigieg is just a leisurely fellow floating through life with his Harvard and McKinsey pedigree. Being gay doesn't even matter. Not a prime time man.

There's no candidate yet. And typical of Democrats, they seem to rely on Trump being unpopular. But that is exactly how someone like Tucker Carlson becomes president. Democrats already made that mistake and threw in the deeply unpopular, 82 year old Joe Biden, which is why have this mess. Democrats really need to focus on getting a compelling candidate, even if it's a green alien from Mars of indeterminate gender.

You act like there should be a candidate already. It is super early. Just because we want it to be over doesn't mean there isn't a lot of time left, plenty for someone to emerge.

My favorites are the people who have fought back, among whom Mark Kelly is the most dignified. But I would also very gladly vote for Chris Murphy or Osoff.

Murphy/Kelly ticket. Georgia needs Ossoff. Can Pennsylvania find someone to primary the Neanderthal currently cosplaying as a Democrat.

This is true. Ossoff is currently campaigning for re-election to his Senate seat. Ossoff and Warnock ran on a single ticket resulting in a huge win for GA. Will they do it again? Critical seats should be a strategic plan and remain held. Ossoff is young. His time will come.

Boring white male, religious black Democrat

Both from the South, both are fairly moderate. Both could appeal to key Democratic constituents and Independents

I think a lot of people are going to have a strong desire for normalcy after 10+ years of political chaos. I have noticed that Beshear has been mostly been staying out of the way of national politics. (Unlike pritzker). This will probably be to his benefit when the time comes. People are going to want to shut the door on this era, and probably act like it never happened.

I disagree. I absolutely refuse to vote for someone who was silent.

Give me Chris Murphy, or AOC, or Melanie Stansbury, or John Ossoff.

P Murphy/VP Ossoff
P Ossoff/VP Murphy
AOC House Speaker or VP
Buttigieg House Speaker or VP
Jack Smith AG
Jasmine Crockett Deputy AG

Melanie Stansbury (has not been silent) Chief of Staff

Clearly written by an out-of-touch white UMC liberal. The fact that you mentioned Buttigieg gave it away…..
Buttigieg would be a stellar House Speaker. Are you homophobic, MAGA?

I'm pp and I'm good with all of this. Though I think Stansbury would make a great VP.
I’m good with that too There’s many great potential candidates and there’s a whole cabinet to fill- ppp

If any Dem operatives are reading this, here is my 2 cents:

You let the GOP become the party of change. You by extension became the establishment party. Please please please don’t make that mistake again.

So many Americans hate what this place has become that they were ready to burn it all down. And here we are now, watching it all burn.

Talking about norms isn’t going to get it done. Talking about rules just reinforces that the rules are rigged against ordinary people. Talking about democracy makes people feel like you don’t get it — because it’s so abundantly clear that the elite few have such extraordinarily outsized power relative to the many.

You have to go bold.
You have to be clear.
You have to stand for something bigger than what already is.

And here’s the thing: you might as well. You will never, ever win enough of the billionaire support to override the GOP’s willingness to give them everything.

The winning message isn’t norms — it’s who are we burning it all down FOR.

They need to hire the strategists that won the NYC mayoral race.

Let’s just focus on the midterms for now.

This. We need someone with a proven, positive record who isn’t too far left. The country needs to feel safe after Trump lunacy. He’s a Navy vet and astronaut, unlike most of our recent presidents.

Mamdani is a great at messaging, but it worked because he had thousands of people knocking on doors. The Dems have always been good at this, but he 10x it.

Sigh. I guess that Kamala Harris "they/them" ad worked.

Both sides are/were too intent on changing culture rather than improving things that matter to the general US population. I don’t want to talk about Jesus and I don’t want to tiptoe around he/she/they/we/us/it/yo. Anyone who stops focusing on gender nonconformity and avoids getting into stupid shit with the Pope of all people will be a massive win for the whole country. No one seems to know how to keep the focus on the important stuff and get the job done so they focus on changing US culture and shoving weird stuff into the spotlight.

Maybe you were not paying attention, but Harris's campaign focused on things like stopping post0covid price gouging, getting costs down particularly healthcare, making more fair the tax code, and investing in the American people and not billionaires.

She did not campaign on pronouns or gender non-conformity, though when asked, advocated for the civil rights of ALL Americans.
.

And yet, there is no reason to believe she would have done differently than Biden to sign off on redefining the meaning of biological sex to mean gender.
If someone can’t get something so simple right, how can they be trusted?

That's the plan, right? The Republicans will run on trans fear mongering since this seems to be their only message.

It’s the easiest thing to scare people with and doesn’t take much effort. Harder to talk about let alone offer affordable healthcare with all the lobbyists staking claims on candidates and policy. Can’t offer affordable healthcare, can’t keep the Earth clean for the kids’ sake, can’t cut down on defense spending, but we’ll turn Pricilla Queen of the Desert into your worst enemy. 🙄

I’m not sure it’ll be an existing politician. Might be an outsider.

Not sure if this counts as quite an outsider (and frankly makes me shudder a little to think of it) but Rahm is almost certainly running.

Trump has already pivoted and said gas prices won't be going down before the midterms. MAGA got the message its patriotic to wrack up credit card debt to pay for groceries and gas if those 7 trans American athletes are barred from playing sports.
