For me, Birkenstock Gizeh Flowers works for every situation except a serious hike or formal dinner.

I have plantar fasciitis and I wear these.

Taos are great. I just wish these didn't have velcro but I get it for people that need to adjust their fit.
Also did they used to have half sizes or am I misremembering?

The Velcro does take a lot of shoes on this type of thread from “not bad” to hideous.

I have sensitive skin and sandal straps often cut the skin behind my ankle. But I do own pretty sandals for going out to dinner.

Omg, what the hell are these. Please just wear sneakers.

I am super picky about shoes, but I have been really happy with these:

I bought them because they were on sale.

I am 61 and wouldnt be caught dead in any of these except the birks. Why are all you younger women wearing those shoes? Do you want to look dumpy?

Why the flower birks? They are UGLY. Regular birks please.
No need to adorn them with those cheesy flowers.

I think the verdict is that OP asked for shoes with a backstrap under $100. These do not fit the brief.
